Yesterday we had a long, shuddering type earthquake in Napier- during which all 3 of my kids were told by their teachers to ‘be quiet and keep working’! Didn’t we just have a civil defence emergency in HB and shouldn’t teachers know process? At least show a bit of empathy?

At the same event I started talking to some head pupils from an elite girls private school. When I told them what school I was from they turned their backs and walked away.....

I went to Papatoetoe Highschool (not far from Kings). I was head girl. Once our head boy (who was Sāmoan) and I went to a rotary event for head pupils in the city. A Rotarian arrived late and sat next to us at our table. He looked at Danny and said “Is this a cultural day?”

@KirstyWildNZ @GreaterAKL Great article Kirsty. There's also the question of Fringe Benefit Tax for 'work' SUVs and utes. I notice a lot doing school drop offs with some tiny signwriting on the door indicating they're registered as work vehicles and getting tax offsets...
