🌡️ HEATWAVE WARNING: Stay Safe in the Heat! 🌡️ The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Heatwave Warning for Victoria. Extreme heat can affect everyone, but older people, those with pre-existing conditions, pregnant women, young children, and pets are particularly at risk. With climate change making heatwaves more frequent and intense, let’s stay prepared and protect our community. How to Stay Safe in the Heat: ✅ Drink plenty of water. Always carry a bottle with you. ✅ NEVER leave kids, adults, or pets in cars. Temperatures inside can double in minutes. ✅ Keep cool – find air-conditioned spaces, close blinds, use fans, take cool showers, and wear loose, natural fabrics. ✅ Plan ahead – schedule activities for the coolest parts of the day and avoid exercising in the heat. ✅ Look out for others – check on elderly relatives, neighbors, and vulnerable people, and ensure your pets are safe too. ✅ If you feel unwell, call NURSE-ON-CALL at 1300 606 024 or see a doctor. In an emergency, dial 000. 💡 Stay informed and prepared: health.vic.gov.au/environmental-… Keep cool, stay hydrated, and check on those who might need extra help. Together, we can beat the heat! 💧🌞

“Locking the community out doesn’t feel right – this school is the community… and so we invite people to come in. We also find that the more we open our gates the more the community looks out for our school.” Great @VicHealth case studies here vichealth.vic.gov.au/sites/default/…

NEW FIGURES: Our latest FoodSwitch data confirms just 36% of packaged foods in Australia display their Health Star Rating - well short of the 60% voluntary target due tomorrow. Food Ministers must hold the line and make the system mandatory ASAP. bit.ly/4fCMhcU

VicHealth welcomes today’s announcement by the Victorian Government to introduce a tobacco retail licensing scheme. A tobacco licensing scheme will remove dishonest sellers from the market, protecting kids and the Victorian community. vichealth.vic.gov.au/news-publicati…

Tobacco is the only product that will kill two out of three of its users. That's why we support the tobacco licensing scheme proposed by the state government today - it's critical for the health of Victorians. Read our statement: vichealth.vic.gov.au/news-publicati…

Yesterday on #WorldFoodDay we shared why, until Health Star Ratings (HSR) are mandatory, consumers are left guessing about the healthiness of food. Mandatory HSR usage on all eligible products will ensure Australians make healthier choices about what they eat.
