He mentions being "surprised it came up 5th" despite there being a 50% chance to be outside the top 4 He told Forbes "you can't slow-play your way into success in this league" The Pacers entire strategy was to slow play this season without Haliburton and land a top pick

Are we sure the Pacers couldn’t have acquired Zubac in the offseason and still kept their pick? I know that Mathurin and Jackson made the salaries match perfectly, but the trade haul was more for Zubac than Siakam. With Turner leaving in free agency, everyone knew Indiana was desperate for a center and they had to pay a lot to get one.

The only way the Zubac trade could even be close to a win for the #Pacers is if he becomes a 4-5x first-team all-NBA player or leads the team to an NBA title. Giving up a top-five pick in a deep draft is a massive, massive blow.
