Yesterday Alex Otti & Abia trended. I didn't pay much attention because of other activities including the preparation for the APC convention. Catching up now and I have been smirking, laughing and sniggering cos Sowore effectively triggered Ndi Igbo because he indicated that he is not fazed by the observable progress in Abia. He specifically called Abia State's biggest economic hub, Ariaria Market "Jurassic Park" - highlighting that it was archaic and unfit for modern existence. Question - has Otti transformed Ariaria market or is Sowore telling lies? To me, the excitement Abians feel online should be encouraged, Its their first time. We know this because the records show that Abia State has suffered serious underdevelopment & neglect under Orji Uzor Kalu, Theodore Orji and Okezie Ikpeazu Proper Governance was in the gutter. The excitement, the cheer, the pomp and pageantry expressed when Otti does a project, attracts a project or commissions a project is highly expected. I mean, ~24 years of PDP's horrendous leaders will definitely do that to the best of people. For example - During Maupe Ogun's infamous interview with Ikpeazu where he boldly boasted about his administration's maternal health initiative, He said that women who gave birth in government health facilities were given about N500 as an incentive. When Maupe asked him what the N500 was for (as her face was clearly in shock probably because she couldn't believe it). Ikpeazu boldly answered that "it's to encourage pregnant women to deliver in hospitals instead of at home". Where I am from, such an initiative is unacceptable. This was the reality of the people who are praising, clapping and dancing for Alex Otti today. They are coming from pure wickedness, they are coming from emboldened evil, they are coming from boastful incompetence and they could not do ANYTHING about it. So it's easy to understand why Otti fixing an old gully erosion in Ovum is a major governance milestone. Something that should have been attended to immediately using the readily available 30 year old national ecological trustfund but their past governors 'ate' the money. Its the same reason Abians were teased, trolled and mocked for celebrating the commissioning of water fountains and Julius Berger being mobilised to the Port Harcourt Aba road after 20 years of neglect. 😂 This overexcitment is also why when anything good happens in Abia state they simply just attribute it to Otti. Many Abians today have taken Prof Barth Nnaji's 22 years of hardwork bringing #GeometricPower to life and ascribed to Alex Otti. 😂 A project that was actually commissioned by President Tinubu. Abians are saying its Alex Otti's Project. May our lifeswork not be attributed to someone else. Amen. The truth is simple - Abia is rising. The standard of Governance in Abia was not on the floor, it was 20 feet deep in the ground, dead and buried but its rising. So let them celebrate abeg, if a soda factory is a regular thing for you, its a major milestone for them. But don't get carried away. There is a lot more to do, if you jonze. Sorry for you. Alex Otti is doing well But make sure he does more. Cos he has 24 years of backwardness to eliminate.
