@npc210 I've never cared much for the fancy new foods they introduce through the press every year. I wish they'd improve the general basic concessions food that is in most of the stands. I have to admit the pizza is better now than it was ten years ago.

@CubbySteph @tom_paints That's one thing the Pirates do right. They allow outside food and water in PNC Park. I've even bought a large pizza outside and carried it in with me. It's a great way to save money, especially when you have kids.

@tom_paints It’s really unfortunate. It’s expensive to watch from home too. You need a streaming channel or MLB subscription. I can’t watch the Cubs without MLB. My daughter lives in Pittsburgh and has no way to watch the pirates. I don’t understand how the game is growing at these prices🤷‍♀️

I live in dodger country and I never go to games because it’s just too expensive to take the family and frankly, the experience doesn’t match the price. I just want my kids to have the experience of going to games whenever they want similar to how it was when I was a teen. I’d just drive up to comiskey and catch a game for cheap. Kill like 4 hotdogs and not break the bank. It’s how I fell in love with baseball. This is a great deal and I hope teams embrace this. Teams need to focus on getting young fans out to the ballpark without it being a luxury.

The Cardinals are introducing a ticket package starting at $29 that includes bottomless soda, hot dogs, chicken tenders, bratwurst, nachos, fries, popcorn, peanuts, chips, and ice cream

@DanZangrilli True story- one of them is named Tommy Ward and he was in my Dad’s grade school class at Sacred Heart He skipped school to go to the Pirates game and when he brought a fake doctor’s excuse the next day, the nun held up the PG with his mug on it and promptly gave him detention

After hearing about Maz, I got my first lineup notification of the year. That helped to cheer me up. #LetsGoBucs

@PantherLair Clemente's 3000th hit? The image of him standing on second is iconic as almost any Pittsburgh sports image.

Inspired by the passing of Pirates legend Bill Mazeroski, what’s on the Mt Rushmore of Pittsburgh sports events? His walk-off HR in game 7 of the 1960 World Series is definitely there. The Immaculate Reception, too. What are the other two?

@ThatEricAlper The members of Rusted Root. At the midnight autograph signing for the release of When I Woke. I've talked to a few world famous athletes, comedians, and actors, but musicians have mostly been Pittsburgh famous.

@Caelyn__B @lizaboth Just saw a news story where a Sheetz opened in Wawa territory. In fact, it was across the street from a Wawa. So it's about to get even more serious.

@lizaboth Pennsylvania is probably either Sheetz / Wawa. (Gas stations) depends which side of the state you are on. And the debate is VERY SERIOUS

@JWolperPGH @1992Pirates Now that you said it, I do remember it was celebrating that world series. I don't remember the barbershop quartet music, but my mind probably barely noted it. The next summer I moved to NJ, so I wasn't in the loop on promotions like quiet night. It would be cool to experience.

@PittsburghTom @1992Pirates It was enough of a hit that they had a Quiet Night the next year, doing a regular 2004 game with nothing between innings. (And they turned back the clock again to celebrate the 1909 Series.) I found that I liked PNC Park a lot better without all the "gameday entertainment."

If you’re looking for that “moment of zen”… here’s almost 90 seconds w/no PA announcements, no music. Just crowd chatter, ball hitting mitt, interrupted by the faint cry of the occasional vendor hawking his wares. #LetsGoBucs

@PiratesTalk @1992Pirates I was at that game with my then girlfriend and her mom. It could have been a couple hours. I blocked a lot of it out.

@PiratesTalk @1992Pirates I remember being under the impression that the Pirates had decided to finally play the game, but when that happened, it was the umpires who decided to not play the game. I don't know if that was true or why I even thought that was the case.

@1992Pirates Only entertainment was some guy reading Casey at the Bat. After about an hour of sitting in a mist due to a rain delay, the game was postponed. Still, it was interesting sitting in the park with none of the loud in stadium entertainment.

@1992Pirates About 25 years ago, I went to what was supposed to be Boston's first game in Pittsburgh in like 100 years. In honor of it, they did a turn back the clock night where a static scoreboard was shown on the video display. No new music. No video.
