But if everything is just whatever meaning you give it, why does everybody lose their mind over losing access to their digital game library? Is that really about memories or just sunk cost?

@blublairies Bingo! How does one compress multiple memory-objects into an aesthetic totem array so it’s beautiful, memorable, and functional? 🤔

It’s that without the object- you may never remember those memories again- and the object actually pulls vivid details your brain does not easily recall without the trigger item.. so lol- what you have to do is downsize the memory objects into totems- so you’re not surrounded in
Sophia ❣️@KeruboSk

ADHD is more strongly associated with difficulty discarding items than OCD is. Not because of hoarding tendencies, but because objects often act as memory anchors and emotional regulation tools. Letting go of them can feel like losing a piece of needed memory or comfort

yeah but people get bored fast, nobody's waiting months for "measured balance" if the new patch is a snooze. instant chaos > stale meta every time
Toothy@vampire_toothy

It seems as though BHVR has learned the wrong lesson off of their attempts at live balance during new content releases. Where BHVR went wrong was introducing fundamentally game changing updates with MAJOR ramifications during chapter releases which is always the worst time to do so, especially when you design a killer with the idea that those changes will certainly make it through (IE : Krasue) only to then end up with a half baked release when those changes don't make it through. Dead by Daylight has so much content however, the game itself was in need of more frequent live balance updates and not less. The game having more content and an exponentially growing technical debt means that more maintenance has to be performed on the actual game itself to its perk and killer designs to ensure we don't end up with runaway issues such as the current meta in the game. Is it too much to ask that we just get small adjustments to perks and killers that don't fundamentally change the core game during chapter patches so that we may still continue to receive necessary live balance and not just potentially game jeopardizing updates? Keep in mind that if BHVR is dead set on keeping balance changes exclusively to mid-chapters, we will always be one mid-chapter away from BHVR wasting 25% of their dev hours on balance changes if the reception ends up being bad and gets reverted on any single one of them.

@BirdKICKerBing If it's really just burnout, why do so many keep streaming until the subs fall off? Feels like there's more going on than just "lost the spark."

My friend Mikgo asked me why I don’t stream anymore. I told them that streaming killed my love for video games. Kinda hard to fully explain why. Since RE9, I’m just enjoying Marvel 2 and Cosmic Invasion right now and I legit don’t care about anything else.

@BoundaryBreak People were lying and saying the PS4 was gonna be better in regards to digital games and game ownership. It ended up being the same as Xbox One, but that didn't change anything, people still saw the shilling campaign online and that affected everything.

Before my MIL moved in I spent $94/yr for my Amazon Prime, and about $15/month on one or two additional subscriptions available through Prime Video. Today, I spend $100 on cable per month for her sake, because prime video doesn’t offer MSNBC or CNN and it would be too difficult for her to learn to use it (dementia sucks).

@Videogamefit64 @Typo_master_ Except one has Xbox games. The other has Xbox and PlayStation games. So realistically speaking? Both consoles, let alone subscriptions, aren’t equal. Xbox loses by a highway mile.

PlayStation doesn’t send minions from PS based YouTube or podcasts to try and convince you to buy a PS5. Whereas Colt, Destin, Parris, BoomStick, are still TRYING to convince you to buy or stay on Xbox, a struggling and dying platform. Xbox neutered these men. 🤣🤣🤣 ✂️🎾🎾

Is there actually anyone out here with just one streaming bill and "minimal" ads? Feels like these price debates always skip the part where everyone’s got a pile of subscriptions and random movie rentals stacked up
Rob Boyd, Esq@AvonandsomerRob

You should not be paying more than £5.99 a month for Netflix. On this cheaper tier, ads are very minimal, and streaming quality is in 1080 HD. The content on offer simply isn't worth £18.99, the price of a full tv streaming package without sports. I noticed no difference after downgrading.

@Starryder10 I'm sick of these sports leagues making us buy so many streaming services. I won't see the 600 and I won't miss it, just like I didn't miss Monaco today, actually I forgot about it till just a few minutes ago. That's what happens when you freeze people out.

@OrrShayne @PliskenMGS kind of a weird math problem. Streaming only looks cheap if you ignore everyone sharing the same screen. Nobody pays per eyeball at home. Studios know this, just pretend not

This guy doesn't understand that 1 month streaming revenue is equal to about 2 movie tickets after theaters take their cut. A family of 4 watching a netflix movie they lose revenue for at least 1 ticket. How many people gathered at a house to watch live fighting events? Only 1 person has to pay.

Uh huh So after WB movies make a few hundred million dollars in theatre, they just throw them in the garbage bin? They make sure to keep them off subscription services? It's the same model except one makes hundreds of millions before it needs streaming revenue
