UPDATE: The suspect has been located off campus. It appears he has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. There is no longer a threat to campus and the shelter-in-place has been lifted.

From MSU Police: Remain sheltered in place if you are on or near campus. Please do not come to campus. It makes it harder for police to do their job. The suspect is still at large. MSP is on scene with personnel and equipment.

UPDATE: There are 3 confirmed fatalities. This is in addition to the 5 victims who have been transported to the hospital.

SUSPECT PHOTOS: The suspect is a Black male, shorter in stature, red shoes, jean jacket, wearing a baseball cap that is navy with a lighter brim.

The FBI is responding to assist in the reports of an active shooter on the Michigan State University campus. Additional updates will be provided as they become available. Also, follow @msupolice for more accurate information.

All campus activities are canceled for 48 hours, including athletics, classes, and all campus-related activities. Please DO NOT come to campus tomorrow.

A news briefing will take place at 11 p.m. at the Henry Center for Executive Development. The address is 3535 Forest Rd, Lansing, MI 48910.

Victims are currently being transported to Sparrow Hospital. Brody Hall, Snyder/Phillips Hall, Mason Hall, Abbot Hall, Landon Hall, the MSU Union, and Berkey Hall have all been cleared/secured.

UPDATE: The suspect description is a short male with a mask, possibly Black. Please continue to shelter in place. We are still receiving multiple calls of an active shooter on campus.

UPDATE: IM East is being secured. It appears there is only one suspect at this time.

There is another reported shooting at IM East. Police are responding. There are multiple reported injuries. Media staging area is currently being determined.
