Globally, 12 million girls are married before their 18th birthday each year – that’s one girl every 3 seconds. No girl should ever have to marry as a child. This is why, for International Women’s Day, we’re saying #WeObject to child marriage and putting girls first, everywhere.

In partneship with the Government of Canada, Plan South Sudan established CAFS hosting hundreds of Children in Upper Nile state. We appeal to all actors and stakeholders to prioritise protecting children and adolescents from risks that might hinder their dreams. @CanadaDev

In a crisis, girls face risks such as early marriage and pregnancy. Through Child and Adolescent-friendly spaces (CAFS) in host communities, girls like Nyasijin 14 (centre), have a safe space and access psychosocial support mitigating the impact of conflict on their well-being.

On 16th of January 2026, Plan International South Sudan launched a food security in Renk targeting over 250 HH and over 1500 individuals majorly consisting of South Sudanese and Sudanese refugees fleeing the crisis, IDPS and vulnerable host community household.@CCK @KCOC

Based on latest data globally, 21% of young women (20-24) were married as children. South Sudan is among the countries with a high prevalence of Child, early and forced marriage We call upon all actors to advocate for stronger laws, policies and systems that protect young girls
