What's the opposite of a landfill? A compost facility! And it's stage four in the composting process. After properly disposing of compostable products, sanitation workers across the country deposit them in compost facilities where they break down & provide nutrients to the soil.

As National Small Business Week begins, we’re recognizing the backbone of the biobased products industry: America’s farmers. Across the country, farmers are doing more than feeding communities— they’re growing the resources that power a new generation of biobased products.

Step three of the composting process is perhaps the most crucial for the consumer. After using a plant-based product, consumers dispose of it for composting. That can mean different things, but it always means separating compostable products from items that go to landfills.
