As for GOT, it's treated as a bad thing in the series. It's not at all glamorised like how Alex/Patricia is.

In the end, the Alex debacle meant nothing. It was just the old sad sacks of the internet turning nothing into controversy, so they have something to fill their empty lives. Now Alex is contaminated with internet gunk. I am sick of tourists ruining the things we love.

@LucianoMet26544 @GruffSaid @Edmitsu Except Max isn't known for outrage content. He's usually pretty positive. He's even kinder to games that aren't very liked, such as MVCI. His negative reaction against Alex's SF6 story is one of those exceptions, and understandably so.

@GruffSaid And my argument wasn't that personal morality can override laws. I'm not advocating for lawbreaking or the outright abolishment of such. My simple point is that there are some things that are so well-regulated culturally that passing laws isn't a priority. Japan seems like that.

@GruffSaid @CableFF7 I never said "all people". Laws are the formalisation of morality. Morality held by the majority and/or the individuals who pass said laws. I'm referring to the self-regulating aspect of cultures. Things that are taken for granted in society, like not fucking your cousin.

@GruffSaid Being raised together is a similarity they both share, yes. However, the two elements I pointed out do make a big difference. Alex and Patricia saw each other as siblings growing up. This means that normally the Westermarck effect should kick in. Second cousin is incest.

@PlatConquest You are. Both Alex and Patricia, and Eren and Mikasa were raised together. Both became romantic pairing a later in life. You are just being inconsistent, determining one is incest, the other is not, when the situations are the same. And second degree cousins is not incest.

@GruffSaid @CableFF7 Recognised by a lot of people. Being legal in various countries doesn't disqualify second-cousin couplings from being incestuous. Some countries are very clannish. In others, the culture self-regulates against incest so effectively that passing laws hasn't been a priority.

@GruffSaid I was never a fan of Mikasa and Eren's romantic relationship. That being said, the dynamic is different from Alex and Patricia. While she was taken care of by the Yeager/Jaeger family, Eren and Mikasa never saw each other as brother and sister, and they also aren't cousins.

@LookAtMyMeat1 Second-cousin incest is not far enough to be in "no health dangers" territory. Yes, first-cousin incest is more dangerous, but there's still a higher risk of abnormality compared to non-cousin-conceived kids. Besides, it sets the kind of bad precedent that leads to this.
