I agree, and it sounds like it will be on par with the highest valued franchises. The last two sales were Celtics at $6.1B and Lakers at $10B "Silver, according to a source with knowledge of the discussions among ownership, has privately told NBA governors that he expects expansion fees to range from $7 billion to $10 billion. Two senior NBA team officials told The Athletic they believe the minimum expansion fee will likely be $8 billion per city." nytimes.com/athletic/71451…

@PlayDraftLabs @esidery The NBA does not auction expansion fees (i.e., accepts bids). An expansion fee of $7-$10 billion would be on par with the highest valued NBA franchises.

NBA owners will officially vote in July over approving Las Vegas and Seattle as expansion teams. All indications are this will pass unanimously during Las Vegas Summer League. An expansion draft would take place in summer 2028 where teams can protect a max amount of players.

@ShamsCharania Interesting and surprising hire, coming off losing a 3-1 series lead against Detroit. I thought ORL's offense was just brutal to watch, but on the plus side, they were a very good defensive team under Mosley, so you hope he brings that to NO.

BREAKING: The New Orleans Pelicans are hiring Jamahl Mosley as the franchise's new head coach on a five-year contract, sources tell ESPN. Mosley accepts the Pelicans job after five seasons in Orlando where he guided the Magic to three consecutive playoff berths.

@LynnOAult @TheDunkCentral That's not a new thing, the vast majority of past MVPs played for a team that finished as a top-2 seed.

@NetsDaily Not a good draft, especially for the Knicks 👇
DraftLabs@PlayDraftLabs

After watching another huge playoff performance by Stephon Castle last night and looking at a re-draft of the 2024 NBA draft, he's clearly #1 for me. One thing I found pretty wild looking back was the Knicks draft. - At #24, they traded back 2 spots and WAS took Kyshawn George, who is a top 5 guy from that draft for me - The Knicks then took Dadiet at 25, who has been a non-factor - At #26, they traded back and received five 2nd Rd picks - Then they traded three 2nd Rd picks to move up for Kolek at #34 (not a playoff rotation guy for them) - Finally, they traded #38 in a multi-team trade to OKC, who took... AJAY MITCHELL! So the Knicks picks in 2024 became 2 of the top 5 guys from that draft. Yikes.

So if Cleveland closes this game out to win the series over Detroit, the home team will have won the first 4 games of the series, and road team each of the next 3. That has to be one of the rarest series patterns… Looks like SAC-GSW followed the same pattern in 2023. Any other examples?

@ShamsCharania SGA winning back to back MVPs when Luka scored almost 34 ppg this year and Jokic averaged a triple double, just shows how special of a player he is.

SGA back-to-back MVP notes, per ESPN Research: - No. 1 seed, NBA-high 64 wins, despite third-most team games missed due to injuries - First player to win consecutive MVPs since Nikola Jokic in 2020-21 and 2021-22 and the first guard to win consecutive MVPs since Stephen Curry in 2014-15 and 2015-16   - First guard to average 30 points and 55% shooting in a season in NBA history   - Joined Michael Jordan as the only players to average 30 points, 5 assists and 50% shooting in 4 consecutive seasons in league history   - Did not score below 20 points in any game all season. He is the third player to score 20+ points in every game in a season, joining Wilt Chamberlain (1961-62, 1963-64) and Elgin Baylor (1961-62)   - +788 on the season, more than 100 points better than the next closest player in Victor Wembanyama (+682)
Shams Charania@ShamsCharania

Breaking: Oklahoma City Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has won his second consecutive NBA Most Valuable Player award, becoming the 14th player in league history to win back-to-back MVPs, multiple sources tell ESPN.

@PlayDraftLabs @esidery How did you come up with that figure? Even if the NBA's expansion fee was $5 billion, for a total of $10 billion for the two teams, that would equate to each of the existing 30 owners receiving $333 million.

@JCaporoso Smith is incredible. Saw him play at OSU his freshmen year, and he just looks different out there. Have you been to a game at The Shoe before? It's an awesome experience.

Still has to be Jeremiah Smith who is a proper generational prospect but man it should be a loaded class across the board...we are going to ramp up a weekly CFB show to properly cover it this year (I am also going to Ohio State/Oregon and a few others hopefully)
DraftLabs@PlayDraftLabs

@JCaporoso I know it's early, but with 3 firsts next year it's going to be fun to watch the top prospects during the college season. If you had to pick one non-QB prospect today, who would you want the Jets to get? playdraftlabs.com/prospects

2024 NBA Re-Draft would be pretty crazy. Castle (went 4th) would be an easy #1 for me, and then in some order probably Sarr (went 2nd), Ajay Mitchell (38th), Kyshawn George (24th), Matas Buzelis (11th), and Clingan (7th).
DraftLabs@PlayDraftLabs

@TheHoopCentral Castle is so good already, and still only 21 years old. 2024 NBA draft was pretty rough overall, but there has got to be a lot of regret from the teams at the top that passed on Castle... (I like Sarr but not nearly as much as Castle)
