We've had a few questions about why we're using fictional political parties in the game version of Governance despite the realist focus. The answer is more complicated than you think. Parties don't really sue people for defamation. However, people can - and they do! There is always the chance with a random common name generator that it lands - unintentionally of course - on a name taken up by someone in politics. By putting that person in a real life party, we easily risk identifying them and creating actionable libel. It is *not* a copyright infringement as some have claimed - it is a safeguard against creating fake information. It is simply avoiding a situation where defamation could occur - one of the fundamentals of media law. (Following some feedback, we have removed 'Democrat' as a random option for the party of the centre-left.)

This is something we really want to sort as we're developing it entirely on Macs. The Mac app approval process is another thing entirely as Apple takes security understandably very seriously. It's something we want to offer sooner rather than later but right now we're focusing on getting the Windows app out first. If we're support macOS, we'd also look at doing an iPad release too.

@PlayGovernance Any idea for if/when the game will be MAC playable?

We've considered adding a form of hour-by-hour mode. It would be a lot of fun on election night, especially when the exit polls get it completely wrong! Even more importantly it would provide for a more realistic simulation of information sharing/spreading. It's on the "maybe" list but it's something we are considering as we go!

@PlayGovernance Question for you, are there plans for showing election results as they come in? Sorta like irl? (In the future obviously)

There’s also a few other things we can’t go into publicly. Rest assured the game is 100% real and 100% working. Weighing up our options…

It’s not up to us, it’s up to the platform. Which so far has taken way longer than we planned for. We had the April 24th in diary from January, so not being able to meet that has been deeply disappointing. Once again we are weighing up another platform to get Governance into people’s hands sooner.
