I can always tell who didn’t watch the Grizzlies until 2019 at the earliest. The Grizzlies were more competitively relevant before Ja Morant than they ever were with him, and they will be relevant after him too.

Just laying back and watching that game on the big screen that day the offense ran exactly as it was designed. Spacing was perfect. The defensive effort was there. I've said that same thing to fellow seatmates when the Grizz came back home. That was the best we looked and that was the intended look from all the schemes run. Tuomas isn't babying anyone on this team. Ja couldn't take the criticism of his game at the outset of the season and decided to quit on us as a team, and a community right then and there. There was a moment at the start of his sophomore Grizz year when Ja made a bucket at the start of a early season game and just started celebrating with Tee and his friends on the sideline instead of running back on defense. I commented then to seatmates that I didn't like that change of character from his rookie year when he was the hungriest and just played the game. That's how money can change a person instantly if everyone around them doesn't have their bearings around the situation. I know we all wanted it to work out, but he doesn't have the mentality to be an effective leader because the folks in his inner circle lack the skills he truly needs for that. When the source of inspiration you pull from are NBA Youngboy lyrics then it is truly a garbage in garbage out mindset. And while attendance is already down 25% from a season ticket sales perspective, because there is no superstar now; the goal moving forward is to build a solid team not optimize around a single star. Cedric coward possesses the mindset at this young age of what you want in your players. A firm belief in PROCESS over RESULTS coupled with the desire and work ethic to go hard after the PROCESS that the RESULTS will indeed come. We just need a team of similar mindset and skillsets to accompany that. And stay healthy.

The Grizzlies game in London Despite all that the noise, the team played loose, fun, and well together one last time (I’m sure they knew) It is disappointing that was the final page in the Ja and Jaren era, but at least it was fun to witness on a premier stage
