After the final buzzer sounded and Hofstra became champions, I spoke with German Plotnikov courtside as the emotions poured out.
Earlier this season, in an interview with Plotnikov and Associate Head Coach Mike DePaoli, DePaoli told me more big shots were coming for German.
They did — including the biggest shot of the championship game.
During our postgame interview, German tapped my chest and brought up that moment, clearly those words from DePaoli stuck with him.
Plotnikov is unequivocally one of the defining pieces of this era of Hofstra basketball, and now he’s a champion.
