@JImmyKarago_ @sholard_mancity Think about a system like Mpesa, millions of transactions happen every minute flawlessly. It's possible to have a similar system for other transactions

@PlumbingML @sholard_mancity Sounds good on paper implementing it is quite difficult. Who will hold the source code?, how can you avoid manipulation?. If banks themselves get hacked, how will it be reliable. There's a reason most countries including non corrupt countries still use physical ballot boxes.

Former James Oswago says Kenya has been printing ballot papers in the UK and other countries, making our elections unnecessarily expensive. And his explanation is simple: Kenyans don’t trust fellow Kenyans. Honestly, he has a point. We had De La Rue right here in Kenya printing our currency for years, so why couldn’t they print ballot papers too? The bigger conversation we need to have is the cost of elections in Kenya. Billions spent every cycle, yet we still argue about credibility. I’ve long argued that Kenya should seriously explore digital voting to cut costs and reduce ballot paper dependency. But would Kenyans trust a digital system any more than they trust paper?

The FIST Agenda moves away from "debt-led development" toward "citizen-led growth. Here is how those radical pillars translate into a new social contract: 1. The Debt Break: Reclaiming KSh 1.6 Trillion By classifying certain loans as Odious Debt, the Safina platform argues that the KSh 1.6 trillion currently sent to lenders (about 70% of revenue) should be frozen. If the loans were taken without public participation or used for corrupt "ghost" projects, the people shouldn't pay. 2. The 5% Revolution: Sales Tax over VAT The proposal to scrap the 16% VAT and replace it with a 5% Sales Tax is designed to end the "suffocation" of the consumer. Prices for basic commodities would drop overnight. By leaving 95% of income with the people, you increase "velocity of money." People spend more, businesses grow faster, and the smaller tax percentage eventually yields more revenue because the economy is larger and more active. 3. Healthcare & Education as Rights, Not Products With the KSh 1.6 trillion reclaimed from debt, Safina plans to bypass insurance-based systems (like SHA) and fund facilities directly. Healthcare (≈KSh 170B): Moving to a "facility-funding" model where medicine and care are pre-paid by the state. Education (≈KSh 270B): Fully funding primary, secondary, and TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) to eliminate all "hidden" costs for parents. 4. Ending Domestic Borrowing: Unlocking Credit Currently, the government "crowds out" the private sector by borrowing from local banks at high interest. If the government stops borrowing locally, banks are forced to lend to you; the farmer, the trader, and the startup. This move aims to naturally push interest rates down from 15-20% to as low as 3-5%, making capital accessible to the average citizen for the first time.

@moneyacademyKE The government should remove VAT on power, disconnect IPPs from the grid, and other measures that would reduce cost of power by 50% or more, energy being a critical factor of production goal being to make manufacturing competitive.

Kenya has ended Kenya Power’s monopoly, allowing power producers to directly sell electricity to large consumers like factories and industries. The firms will use Kenya Power and Ketraco transmission lines after paying access fees.

@JImmyKarago_ @sholard_mancity True, good tech is available to mitigate those risks, the idea being to use a fraction of what the country spends, and use the cash to address pressing national challenges, of which we have many. Using 40B+ on elections every 5 years is not sustainable.

After five failed surgeries on her face, Lucy Gathoni was almost at the point of despair. But, a team of more than 20 specialists in Nairobi took on one of the most complex procedures ever performed in Kenya: an 18-and-a-half-hour facial reconstruction surgery to remove tumours and rebuild her face once more. For the last 2 years, @WillowHealthKe has been on this.

Multiple homes in Tena Estate, Nairobi, were inundated with raw sewage following recent heavy rains, forcing residents to evacuate and blaming the county government for a clogged sewer system that has worsened the flooding.

A doctor who is my client told me by 2050 majority of the men won't be able to impregnate women.Currently 5/10 ladies below the age of 30 are suffering from chronic gastritis. Africa has become the defacto headquarters of depopulation drugs. Everything you eat right now is slowly killing you or taking away your ability to give birth. In a couple of years,Africa will be a sick population.

This is devolution delivering its Schedule 4 mandate; clean, practical, and people-centred. Murang’a County Government proves that real youth empowerment isn’t noise, handouts, or endless rallies. It’s design + discipline + delivery: short-term work, skills training, certification, and seed capital tied directly to the local economy. This is the blueprint. Worth copying nationwide. Kudos to @HonKangata for focused, results-driven leadership. This is how counties change lives, quietly, deliberately, at scale.
George T. Diano@georgediano

In Murang’a, there is a program called the Murang’a Youth Service. Yesterday there was a recruitment exercise across the whole of Murang’a. This program takes 30 youths per ward, and so far they have taken more than 8,000 youths. The youths are selected through balloting, if you pick “yes,” you get a chance. No educational qualifications are required. If you are selected, you work in cleaning the towns in Murang’a for two months and you are paid Ksh 400 per day. You receive Ksh 300, while Ksh 100 is sent to your parent. After finishing the cleaning work, you are taken to a polytechnic to study a course of your choice such as plumbing, hair and beauty, etc., for three months, and the program pays for your NITA exam. After completing the exams, there is a graduation, and you are given Ksh 15,000 to start a business. If you start your business in Murang’a, you do not pay a business license fee for one year. Murang'a is making other Kenyans feel like they were born in Mogadishu. Now that is empowerment, silent, focused and impacful, not what we are currently seeing in other areas. Other leaders are milking the country dry while telling their mumu voters that all development is taken to Murima bcoz of entitlement.🤡

"Life is hard." "Sugar is expensive." "Maize flour is expensive." "We are suffering because we cannot afford cooking oil." "We cannot afford bread." That's what brainwashed masses whine and lament about every day. Yet, these foods from the farmer are nutritious and affordable. We have refused to support the farmers. We have refused to go back to the farms. We are educated idiots. #FoodFriday

Whenever someone responds to my FASTING or WELLNESS posts with farcical comments like, "We shall all die," I instantly block them. They are mostly obese, mediocre, and have never nursed a family member with a chronic disease. Health doesn't have room for pettiness, mockery and jokes. If you walk into any hospital's medical ward, you will see patients groaning in pain because of chronic metabolic diseases. Their only wish is to have their health back. These diseases have drained the family's joy, peace and money. Therefore, keep your absurd jokes to yourself.

@aomenya Boarding schools should be scrapped and all students attend their local schools. It will not only be cheaper for parents, but this will also free up resources which can then be used to fund labs and other facilities in the schools.

All Kenyan children deserve Alliance, Mangu, Kenya High, etc. GoK must stipulate the minimum infrastructure standards for all schools. GoK should then ensure that public schools that don't meet the requirements are assisted to do so. After all, all Kenyan parents are taxpayers.
