☦️One of the greatest relics of the Orthodox Christian world, the Holy Belt of the Most Holy Theotokos has arrived in Belgrade, Serbia.
🇷🇸The relic was welcomed by @predsednikrs - @avucic and the Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church Porfirije.
Today, during the Ascension Day procession through the streets of Belgrade, from the Church of the Ascension to the Saint Sava Temple, the Holy Belt will be carried before thousands of faithful. The relic will remain displayed at the Saint Sava Temple until May 29, during which hundreds of thousands of Orthodox believers are expected to come and venerate it.

☦️One of the greatest Orthodox Christian relics in the world, the Holy Belt of the Most Holy Theotokos is arriving in Serbia from the Vatopedi Monastery on Mount Athos in Greece 🇬🇷, where it has been preserved for centuries. 🙏According to Orthodox tradition, it is the only surviving personal relic from the earthly life of the Virgin Mary. 🇷🇸 The holy relic will arrive in Belgrade on May 20 via a special flight from Mount Athos, marking one of the most significant spiritual events in Serbia in recent decades. Tens of thousands of faithful are expected to attend the grand procession led by the Holy Belt and Patriarch Porfirije of the Serbian Orthodox Church, alongside senior state and military officials, as well as religious and state representatives of other Orthodox Christian nations.

She is recognised as a global pioneer in bioengineering and human tissue engineering, helping push the boundaries of modern medicine.
Born in Belgrade and educated in Serbia, Gordana Vunjak-Novaković is today one of the world’s most cited scientists of Serbian origin. Seven previous laureates of this award later went on to win the Nobel Prize.
