One year at Singapore Botanic Gardens already, it has zipped past in a blink of an eye. What’s the phrase…time flies when you’re having fun! ⁦@nparksbuzz#SBGScience

Sights like these make you appreciate the wonders of nature, especially in a very urban city like Singapore. Thankful we still have these amazing primary forests 🌳🍃🌸🐜🪲🦟 , a zen day indeed

The last photo is a Thottea sp. 🌸. Also another amazing plant with really purple flowers, its family is famous for attracting fly pollinators because of its corpse like appearance🥩

Happy International Biodiversity Day! And Vesak Day! A little thread on my day…First photo: Craterellus cornucopioides var. mediosporus Corner. According to Singapore’s guide to Macrofungi, this mushroom belongs to Hydnaceae, a family with ectomycorrhizal species.

Inspiring talk by Prof Leo Tan who greatly contributed to the education, scientific and environmental scene. Left with great admiration for someone who stood firmly on science, and his progressive ideas & beliefs during a more authoritarian & rapidly developing Singapore.

doi.org/10.3389/ffgc.2… First first author publication! Here, we highlighted knowledge gaps in root traits in the Paleotropics. Hence, future studies should focus on specific root traits depending on geography to understand plant responses to regional impacts of global change.

Recently, I was approached by @LinneanSociety to write a short piece on my life in relation to Wallace’s birth bicentenary. Would like to thank many people and organisations who influenced this piece. You can read more at linnean.org/our-publicatio… Vol 39, no 2, September.
