@MathematicaKen It also supports exporting and importing entire virtual environments, so you can basically script the installation of your dependencies, package the venv, and import it where needed. It's basically just zipping the venv

@awakecoding @Phatmandrake Before alpine and after fixing the arm64 container images you must switch off the root user this is a major security issue

@Phatmandrake @PoSH4Linux First things first, we need to get that container image fixed for Linux arm64, then we can see about trimming it down, but it's likely going to remain a batteries-included container, not some fancy distroless container that users can't debug anything when they hit issues

@Phatmandrake @PoSH4Linux Is it only because of container image size? I know Alpine is slim and everything, but PowerShell, ASP.NET and all that stuff... isn't.

I created a #PowerShell module for MacOS powershellgallery.com/packages/PSmac It has some functions I use everyday on my mac. If you have ideas on what to add to the module let me know. PRs and Issues are welcome 🙏

@awakecoding Also if the dockerfile was in a public repo I wouldn't mind helping out with improving it.

@awakecoding Oh and another thing you should look into is the container is running as root which is a big security issue. Maybe you can look into using the new shiny docker hardened images 🤷‍♂️

@awakecoding The reason I like alpine is because it's very minimal and a standard in the container ecosystem.

@PoSH4Linux Alpine is a bit tricky, are you fine glibc-based distros?

@PoSH4Linux Which platform do you need? ARM64 builds are there for Windows, macOS and Linux. What lead you to think it's missing? If you missed it, then other users might miss it too, so I'd like to know where the confusion came from

@awakecoding This is a really cool idea. A few suggestions 1) support installation via brew for macOS and Linux. 2) Support the command with the major version to get the latest version of that major version For example pwsh-7 will get the latest version of powershell 7
