It was a trend a while back. The idea was it would make men recoil away after being so "hot shit" doing their cat calls.
The point is trans women would get abused just the same as cis women. In fact being trans would act as a motivator for said abuse. As proven by this clip.
The fact the streamer isn't actually trans doesn't matter, because these men don't care either way.

Once did this for a student film I was making. Needed use of a location, couldn't get permission, so just put on a director cap, grabbed a jacket that said "Crew" on the back I had from my day job. Had a couple friends in hi-vis and acted like I was meant to be there.
People apologised and got out of my way when I needed, people stopped working so I could film a shot.

Ireland may seem quite progressive to the likes of Americans and the wider world, but it's general public is very very much not.
While the majority are left leaning, it's barely a majority and even within the left it is quite divided. The Catholic Church still has quite a hold on the public psyche and racism is very apparent, just not necessarily against black people. Just look at what's currently happening in Northern Ireland. There's so many young men exactly like this boy, just ACHING for an excuse to be violent.
40% of 7 million is still 2.8 million people.
