something I’ve experienced in my own life is hearing my dad (Asian) be praised for marrying a white woman (my mom) but i have been harassed and insulted for having a white partner of near a decade. Often the vitriol comes from Asian men, sometimes other Asian women, and while I fully understand & have written on the historical fetishizing of Asian women, the vitriol i receive is clearly steeped in misogyny (ofc my partner doesn’t receive the comments I do)

@offbeatorbit The other thing is bw see other races of women (who are thought to be preferred) as competition for a smaller pool of men, non blk women on the other hand, don't see other races as competition, because they're on the upper end of the beauty, and status hierarchy.

@offbeatorbit It's true. W/ most races, wmn aren't the ones upset about IR, it's the men. But w/ black people, it's mostly the wmn. It's probably because bw don't, as neatly as other wmn, fit into modern conceptions of beauty. So there's a racial insecurity when they see bm/ww relationships.
