@MaximusNortius @rtaonui How can you not see the trend in this? It's a very obvious trend. National inherits a poor trend, turns it around, then passes over a positive trend which Labour enjoys then trashes. Thanks for the table. I've bookmarked it.

As a Labour supporter I have to say this is very disappointing. This should be a huge opportunity to show Labour's readiness for govt, remind people they can handle a crisis, and really hammer progressive values - clean energy, affordability etc - should be our our strengths!!

@rtaonui Ridiculous comment. The fraud and theft by iwi via government and councils needs to be audited and reversed, repaid and the assets returned to the NZ people.

Labour governments consistently see improved credit ratings - with all but one of Labour's govt achieving a higher rating National consistently has NZ credit ratings reduced: 1991, 1998, 2011, 2026, meaning higher credit costs. John Key borrowed $50b, Ardern $80b, Luxon $120b

@MusicalChairs14 Ahhh, so you're finally admitting it's your interpretation after "reading between the lines". Nothing wrong with having an opinion, good luck to you.

@PoliticalNitWit You might need to a *little* bit of reading between the lines, Mark. Look through the Key Ratings section - what are they talking about?

@HelenaT57230672 You disputed the 50% statement. I proved it, then you say it's required and try to justify it. I say there is more than enough time to run a class successfully. You say there isn't. This is a circular discussion so I'll leave it here.

@PoliticalNitWit Just because they get these things does mean they all take it. Teachers are subjected to a huge range of bugs because parents send their kids to school sick. They need more sick leave because of it.

@PoliticalNitWit What do you think the sections on current account balances, institutions, household debt etx are about? An economic strategy is not about what Govt spends ffs.

@Michaelnz60 @saltyreigns Is the extra cost of fuel over and above spend? If coming from other areas (entertainment, food, clothing erc) then it's not extra gst. So it's either bothersome but affordable for households and can be subsidised by the govt at net zero, Or it's unaffordable and costs govt.

@saltyreigns Exactly - government smiling all the way... could freeze GST and still make same money as last week, while taking pressure off the people of NZ..

I calculated the govt will be pocketing an additional NZD 600Million from the extra GST from fuel price hikes. They could provide relief if they wanted to

@MusicalChairs14 They make no assessment of the NZ govts economic strategy other than to flag Novembers election and highlight that a National coalition focuses on controlling spending, and a Labour coalition focuses on tax increases.

@PoliticalNitWit Lol, read what Fitch have written. They use NZ Govt debt definitions, alongside current account deficit and private debt levels, to question whether Govt has any economic strategy. They're right to question whether Govt can just ramp up deficit spending to cover the gaping holes.

If you're annoyed at left wing propagandists dominating New Zealand's media then the latest news will disappoint. Arch communist John Campbell takes over Radio New Zealand's Morning Report on April 13th. Tova O'Brien, who is IMHO at least as far left as Mr Campbell, takes over the TV One Breakfast show next Monday week. Mike Hosking still dominates morning radio. In Auckland, he has about 223K listeners compared to 133K for Radio NZ, The latest ratings show his numbers are steadily declining. My guess is its Hosking's strident TDS (with US correspondent Richard Arnold) that probably makes many reach for the off button. The brains trust at Radio NZ think the overly dramatic and eternally preaching Campbell might steal some of Hosking's listeners. Its shows you how out of touch they are. As for Ms O'Brien, she too was hired a few years ago to try and displace Hosking ("A more balanced Mike") but after a few months her station folded after hardly making a dent in ratings. (see chart) So how does someone so unpopular get a gig on state TV's flagship breakfast show? You know the answer. "Who will you listen to in the AM" survey done by the NZ Herald.

If you vote National because you're in business, and National is the self professed "Party of business" You need to read less slogans and more spreadsheets. Due diligence is required before you give your vote to incompetent idiots who have in fact NEVER had as good an economic record as Labour. GDP is an imperfect measure, but Labour typically run double the gdp growth on average, and more businesses have gone to the wall under this govt than at any time in decades. High unemployment means less aggregate demand, when people are struggling, they are not going to buy your products and services. It's pretty bloody simple. #nzpol

Spoke to someone yesterday who said she her husband always vote National cause they’re have a business (even tho she thinks Luxon is an idiot) A daughter votes Labour but 2 sons “in business so they vote National” We need more charts on how bad the Nats are with the economy

@HelenaT57230672 That's before a whole range of other entitlements come off as well. For instance they get 1 day every 2 weeks CRT (more if they have a unit). They also get 20 sick days per year that they can take in term time. This is on top of 20 days sick leave they get when they start the job

@HelenaT57230672 Contracted 40 hours per week. 4 weeks annual leave. So 48 x 4 = 1920 contracted hours per year. There are 189 school days this year. 5 hours of class time per day. 189 x 5 = 945 hours of class time. 945/1920 = 49% class time.
