@PoliticallyUnh1 @Breaking911 Yes, it's true. Aaron Rose Philip is a Black transgender woman with quadriplegic cerebral palsy who became the first such model signed to a major agency (Elite) in 2018. She's walked major runways and the video shows her arriving at the Met Gala in a black gown.

@chrisman Ask them what the consequences should be for homeschooling parents who fail to educate children. Then ask what the consequences should be for public schools that do the same. The difference in answers is the game.

EAT THE RICH.....but not Tom Steyer. Also not George Soros. Please also excuse Neville Roy Singham and Reid Hoffman, they won't taste good anyway. Laurene Powell Jobs also has a hall pass, and ditto Dustin Moskovitz. James Simons is excused as well, and pretty please don't forget Haim Saban and Quinn Delaney. But yes, eat the rich.

It's actually very important that ambitious college kids be explicitly told that some prestige careers have low pay *by design* to reserve them for the wealthy, and if you aren't wealthy and want that career you had best believe really hard in it bc you will not be affluent
constans@constans

The tough position to be in is people raised upper middle class, attended a good college, & took a “prestige” media/arts/policy job but whose parents werent rich enough to give them a trust fund or at least pay their rent. They got ahead of what their social class can sustain!

Dear Democrats whining about Democracy: please explain to America how, out of 21 Congressional seats representing the 6 New England states, there are ZERO Republican Representatives, even though 40% of the electorate are registered Republicans, 48% in New Hampshire alone?

the federal minimum wage is still 7.25. I am 34 and have never made more than 20k/yr, rarely more than 15. it’s really important that i, as a working person oppressed by capitalism, follow news and politics coverage written by people paid 6 figures to live in the culture city.

The reason I've been very bullish on Harris as the '28 nominee is that though many Democrats are sick of the logic that elevated her in the first place, the fact is the old logic has not been dissolved at all, and in the late 2020s it still rules over and determines how Dem-to-Dem encounters tend to play out. This isn't just true of primaries btw, it's also true of meetings among all-Dem professionals, conversations among all-Dem friends, etc. If there's any competitive element whatsoever, the logic which determines the winner of the competition is...the old logic. There has been no "reckoning," so to speak.

The Supreme Court just gutted a big piece of what remains of the Voting Rights Act. The VRA is now a shadow of what it was when our government actually wanted people to vote. This comes as California Republicans are pushing a ballot measure that’ll make it very hard for many to vote — if you don’t have a driver’s license or passport you’ll need to get your birth certificate or social security card — & if you vote by mail, likely require you to write the last 4 digits of your social security or driver’s license number on the outside of the return envelope. We must pass a new federal Voting Rights Act that wipes away right wing limits on voting, enshrines strong voting protections & mandates independent redistricting commissions in all 50 states. And while we’re at it, let’s expand the partisan body called the Supreme Court & put term limits on it. Enough.

As a real Arab and Muslim I don’t get why the hell Europeans aren’t defending their own identity culture, & way of life. Why the hell are you letting some immigrants change everything? Why did you turn your countries into a garbage dump for every loser & terrorist from the Middle East? Now even we can’t come as tourists because of all the extremism and violence. Wake the fuck up and do something!

@avidseries @Donelsonfiles Most jurisdictions (essentially all blue ones) purposefully do not record immigration status. Illegal immigrants tend to cluster in blue jx b/c they get free healthcare, free housing, etc. As a bonus they can commit crimes w/o fear of jeopardizing their welfare gravy train.

YES x1000. Kills me seeing a victorian gutted into a soulless white box. They always have a gas fireplace with the atrocious colored fire glass spread across the base. Also the staircases with wiring instead of beautiful wood spindles. I could go on forever. Looks cheap from the jump.

If you look at the homes that sell for way over asking price in San Francisco, almost none of them have modern design Yet house flippers solely bring homes to market with wide plank flooring, LED light strips embedded in the walls, etc etc Much better to pursue a traditional design I think and that is what the market in San Francisco rewards Something that looked good a hundred years ago and still looks good today

The new blue state employment model In California, excluding the health care and social assistance sector (which is both government-funded and fraud-ridden), there are fewer private sector jobs in the state today than before the COVID-19 recession
Ken Girardin@PolicyEngineer

New York has added effectively no private jobs in the past year. Things were slowing before COVID. After, NY had one of the nation's slowest recoveries. Now things look to have sputtered out.

It’s a wealth tax that, if passed, will be permanent and will be expanded into the top 10%. California made a huge deal about the 1% millionaire’s tax being just for millionaires. And temporary. Instead, it is now permanent; and everyone who makes more than $150,000 also pays 1.3% more than before because they uncapped the SDI in 2024. California Democrats will increase taxes on everyone every single year. Voters shouldn’t make it easier for them by giving them an entirely different class of “income” to tax.

The Billionaire Tax is actually an Everyone Tax. The Billionaire Tax is a new tax proposal written by four professors who don't believe in the American dream. Some of them aren’t even American…go figure. Despite its name, it applies to every California resident who currently has assets or ever will. The creators named it the Billionaire Tax so you would get into a froth andwouldn't look closely at what it actually does to you. On page twenty-six, it explains how the government can convert to an Everyone Tax without voter approval. They can also adjust the tax to be a yearly tax, not just one time…again, without your approval. Here's how the tax would work: As a voter, you're being asked to approve a tax that would require you to: 1. list all your assets and the value of each, then submit them to the California Franchise Tax Board. 2. authorize the tax board to appraise your assets and confirm the value of each. 3. pay a penalty of up to forty percent of your tax bill if the board determines your reported value was too low in their opinion. 4. allow the tax board to subpoena your financial records from every one of your financial institutions for auditing. This Everyone Tax runs 34 pages of shifty language describing how the government plans to take your assets. Read the fine print and decide for yourself. If this were truly a billionaire tax, it would be 3 pages. It’s 34 pages so that it can create the mechanisms to steal from all of you.

FUN-FACT: 🚨 The state of CA is handing every state prison inmate a "FREE" android tablet so they can stay entertained and keep communicating with their fellow criminals outside the walls! Thanks to @GavinNewsom, this genius program is costing California taxpayers 315 MILLION dollars. Y'all's tax dollars hard at work!
