As much as I complain about this place, I certainly understand the appeal.

A driver who killed a family of four, including two babies, at a San Francisco bus stop was sentenced to probation. Mary Fong Lau (seen here walking through the courthouse today) dodged jail and prison time. Lau, 80, was speeding when her Mercedes SUV plowed into a West Portal bus stop in 2024, investigators said. A family was waiting to catch the bus for a trip to the zoo. The crash killed Diego Cardoso de Oliveira, his wife, Matilde Pinto, and their two babies. Lau stood up in the courtroom and said, “I want to say to all the family, sorry. Sorry.” Full Story: kron4.com/news/bay-area/…

We used to have these. They were called Apartment Hotels. They’d consist of a single room with a bathroom, housecleaning, a cafeteria and lounges. Imagine being able to rent month to month and not need to furnish an apartment. It was ideal. Nuts we got rid of these.

Lots of people's social & romantic lives could be vastly improved if it was normal for young adults to live in college dorm-style accommodation in city centres until they were ready to set up home properly. Why doesn't this exist? I think there would be a market for it!

We have to be realistic about our cities. Yes, we should clean up the street degradation. No, they aren’t all post-apocalyptic hellscapes, especially NYC. collegetowns.org/p/senior-drive…

English speaking countries are experiencing lower levels of happiness, driven primarily by what's happening to young people. The British rank as the saddest of the bunch.

Wild that Wyatt Earp ended up in Hollywood after all his adventures, consulting on sets of Westerns. He was hanging out with Jack London and Charlie Chaplin in LA. They should just do a sequel to Tombstone with current aged Kurt Russell.
