When the national socialists won power in Germany in 1933 among their first demands was for laws restricting the proportion of Jews in the professions - law and medicine - to that minority's (1%) share of the population. Something has gone very wrong with South Africa's moral universe that this same principle is being unashamedly invoked in 2026 in defence of the Legal Sector Code.

🔥The Numbers Don’t Lie - Why We Need the Legal Sector Code‼️ In the Pretoria High Court battle, these stats came up loud and clear: Attorneys Profession (LPC stats): ~35,500 practising attorneys ~64% White ~36% Black (African, Coloured, Indian) At partner level in top firms? Still heavily skewed. Thread 👇

Ramaphosa has ducked accountability for the Phala Phala scandal since 2020. Now the ConCourt, at last, has pulled the judicial rug from beneath his feet. It’s an incredible opportunity for the DA. politicsweb.co.za/news/phala-pha…

Another gem from @Politicsweb on the negotiations at the end of Apartheid. "In 1997, with the transfer of power complete, the ANC allowed the fog that had lain over its true goals to lift, as it abandoned reconciliation for 'transformation.' The liberation movement now publicly declared that it planned to enforce 'African hegemony' and 'demographic representivity' across all spheres and at all levels of society. All racial imbalances were to be submerged beneath a long-planned 'flood of affirmative action'. Whites and other minorities were to be gradually but purposefully weeded out of all institutions." politicsweb.co.za/news/roelf-mey…

The Constitutional Court's Phala Phala judgment has changed the terms of the DA's "Doomsday coalition" argument. "Stability can no longer mean propping up Ramaphosa at any cost. The Cyril-the-Saviour option is finished. His continued presence now threatens the very stability he was meant to guarantee: a weakened president, facing an impeachment inquiry, stalked by ANC rivals, and dependent on alliances to retain a marginal parliamentary majority, is not stability. It is a recipe for chaos," writes @TheJaundicedEye on @Politicsweb. "The GNU has so far delivered the ANC almost everything it wants, and the DA remarkably little in return. There have been no meaningful policy concessions, no visible retreat from cadre deployment, no decisive turn on growth, energy, policing, foreign policy, or empowerment race quotas," is WSM's scathing assessment. politicsweb.co.za/news/phala-pha…

This is just a friendly reminder that there is NO ANC PRESIDENT who has NOT, at one time or another, had large sums of cash at hand to use for slush fund purposes. Anyone from any of the liberation movement parties pretending to be "shocked! SHOCKED!" that Ramaphosa did the same is not being serious.

Last week we exposed a secret Chamber of Mines report that shows 46 unnamed black ‘entrepreneurs’ snaffled 60% of up to R282bn in 'empowerment' deals. This week we name one of the lucky winners of this BEE Lotto. If you know any of the others... WSM's columb on @Politicsweb. politicsweb.co.za/news/who-are-t…

The Chamber of Mines kept secret since 2015 a report that shows 46 black ‘entrepreneurs’ snaffled 60% of R155bn-R282bn in BEE deals. WSM’s column on @Politicsweb breaks that embargo. politicsweb.co.za/news/how-minin…

The ANC fought tooth-and-nail in the negotiations for a constitution that would (effectively) allow them to use racial measures to enforce 'demographic representivity' across all spheres of life in SA, post-1994. That they ultimately succeeded is hardly in dispute.

🧵 Been reading the certification judgment today and was just thinking: Do those complaining about “race based laws”, and giving us lists, include Act 108 of 1996 (the Constitution) on the list? If not, why not? s9 (equality), s25 (Property) and s217 (procurement) all expressly
