The Department of Justice is committed to protecting America’s children.  Today’s resolution furthers that commitment and puts providers of so-called "gender affirming care" on notice that this Department will vigorously enforce federal law where children are put at risk.

Last night, on May 8, 2026, officers arrested 22 people between the ages of 12 and 21, as part of a teen takeover. The large group of teens attempted a takeover in the area of Curtis Hixon Park, causing significant disruptions, fights, and other issues in the park and surrounding areas. “This type of reckless and criminal behavior will not be tolerated in our city,” said Chief Lee Bercaw. “What began as a large gathering quickly escalated into disorder and activity that placed others at risk.
