I lost my darling, beautiful friend this week. She wasn’t weak, she was incredibly strong, but sometimes strength isn’t enough against a mind that sees only hopelessness ahead. I just couldn’t save her - the stigma and shame of showing her mental vulnerability prevented her seeking the support that could have saved her. She kept the mask up until the very end. No-one had a clue. So many people are suffering right now, especially women my age. Please let’s normalise conversations about mental health. @Sathnam I’d love to invite you to the school I run to add some depth to our history topic about invaders/settlers. The last 2weeks (end Nov/Dec) flip the subject so we’re learning where Britain invaded and ‘settled’ and the impact of that - on UK and countries of the Empire.

The whole “schools can cure poverty” mantra of this govt is insulting and dangerous. Solutions to poverty involve higher taxes and high govt spending, decent pay, quality housing, effective healthcare and so much more. End child poverty so all children can focus on learning.
