@bondcliff @berkie1 All four of my grandparents, both of my parents and all ten of their siblings were born & raised in these Boston neighborhoods.

A lot of those neighborhoods were not horrible, just different. Working class folks with street smarts. I know some who lived on one floor and rented the other two to afford the mortgages. But it became gentrified when developers with deep pockets offered big money and then turned them into expensive condos. One fell after another and rental property disappeared block by block. So what was left was two different clashing societies, Urban hipsters and tech workers with big salaries and public housing and section 8.

90% of the triple-deckers in Massachusetts were built before 1935. These homes once helped build the state’s middle class. They didn’t disappear because demand did... we made them illegal to build everywhere.

@KenCook_KC @OnlyInBOS That's different, that is a commuter rail type thing. We're talking about a bullet train here. Obviously getting that Boston to NYC trip to under two hours is still gonna be tough.

@OnlyInBOS I just commuted from Grand Central to Westport, CT and it took me two hours. We have a long way to go to have it under 2 hours from NYC to Boston!

Is it too much to ask for a Boston → NYC train in under 2 hours and under $100 round-trip?

@ADTippet1787 @Super70sSports First of all Alice is a saint! But I think that's the joke basically. Someone in the comments below posted this gif which (other than Marcia's nose getting broken) is probably the worse thing to ever happen on the show. 😂

@Super70sSports You mean like Carol is drunk, Alice has stolen money, Greg is addicted to cocaine, Peter suffering from anxiety and Marsha is pregnant? That is not how I remember it. I remember his challenges being more like this:

In the late 1990s, the New England Patriots were nearly the Hartford Patriots. Connecticut offered a massive $1 billion stadium deal. The plan collapsed months later, and the Patriots instead built a new stadium in Foxborough. si.com/nfl/2017/01/23…

@bondcliff @berkie1 Triple Deck-kahs as my mother used to call them. Yep, over a million for just one floor in neighborhoods that were beyond horrible for 20-50 years ('70s, '80s, '90s and early 2000s).

@berkie1 Those triple deckers in Boston are now three condos selling for 1.5 million a floor. The Middle class moved out to the suburbs.

@TheBostonBuzzer Same for me, Patriots because I'm from Foxboro. Red Sox a very, very close second. Then Celtics and Bruins. Truthfully, I know almost nothing about hockey but I do pay the Bruins a bit of attention since most of my family are die-hards.

@joonlee @BostonGlobe It's funny reading the comments to this, people who have met him have nice things to say, the ones who haven't not so much. He comes off as a dickhead in his column (and also on TV). Hey, we all have different sides to our personalities. Everyone is not one thing.

@LilaGraceRose The problem is that it doesn't represent Hollywood. Jessie is an Irish woman currently living in England (many do for their their careers, I'm wondering if she stays once her children get older and start developing English accents 😬). Hollywood still wants to kill babies.

There’s a cultural shift happening in Hollywood. In 2020, actress Michelle Williams claimed aborting her baby led to her winning a Golden Globe while visibly pregnant. In 2026, actress Jessie Buckley praises marriage and motherhood during her Oscar-winning speech shortly after becoming a new mom to a 6-month-old. Kids don’t limit your life—they bring love and are better than any worldly success.

@gintautasd Totally different world now and Billy Bulger is dead. Oh, wait! I think he's still alive. Whoops! Personally I think Mayor Wu should show up and basically do her take on Billy's joke about John Kerry being "only Irish every sixth year." She can say she's as Irish as John is. 😂

@DannyDeraney Plus John Ritter (in the pic) still has the haircut he had from playing the priest on The Walton's. He had grown it out more by the time they filmed that very first scene (that would eventually air on ABC) of him in the bathtub. tenor.com/view/threes-co…

Larry Gelbart was asked to write a script for Fred Silverman. The pilot was filmed in 1976, but eventually scrapped. ABC decided to base the series off the British show, Man About The House. They kept The Ropers and John, but recast Valerie Curtain and Susan Lanier.

On the 49th anniversary of Three's Company, the series once looked much different. Before Jack, Janet and Chrissy entered our lives, it was David, Jenny and Samantha. This is the original intro from the pilot that never aired.

@AreUforReal9 @BuckSexton @Ummmmichelle @DM_Maureen_ I think we all know the Kennedy men are bad but we get weirdly defensive of them. I remember my parents talking about Teddy K.'s accident and they were saying how they had been to that bridge in MV and it was just a rickety old wooden thing that you could easily crash off of.
