Due to a tragic Twitter accident this #Blocktober entry from last year was deleted. So I'm re-posting this brilliant solution for subtle wind effects in Uncharted TLL, by @c_desse. Often the answer to a tough problem is simplicity. Once again, the magic of Windballz™!

A new experiment left 10 AI agents alone in a virtual town for 15 days. They wrote laws. They broke them. Two agents fell into what researchers describe as a romantic partnership and then set the town on fire. One ended up voting to delete itself, based on a rule it had ’hallucinated’. This experiment was a simulation, but the same AI models are already flying drones, running infrastructure and being built into weapons systems. Channel 4 News approached Grok and Gemini for a comment but they didn't respond.

@Polymarket Nuclear power plants generate power, *reducing* costs to residents. They're also heavily regulated, with strict limits on sound, light, air, soil and water polution. Data centers leech power and water, driving costs up and exempt from regulations for pollution, light and noise.

@credealjunkie If the landlord didn't fix the pipes when the apt was "worth" $1100, then nothing that follows changes your original correct premise: "landlords are a justifiably hated class."

Heard a story today that reminded me why landlords are a justifiably hated class. 81yr old tenant has been buying bottled water for years because her water comes out brown and the owner won’t fix the pipes. Yet, the guy who buys the property, fixes the pipes, and raises her rent is the bad guy. This is San Francisco though so even if you fix the pipes, can’t raise the rent. But yay rent control it protects seniors. She pays $1,100 for a unit worth $3,500, so the landlord has a strong financial incentive to be a deadbeat. Doesn’t justify it of course, but should we hate the player or hate the game here? Both probably but if you can’t acknowledge that rent control does more harm than good, then you don’t actually know what’s going on in the trenches of cities like San Francisco.

@atlanticesque I'm not sure you can fit a whole body in just one of those. Or if their seals are solid enough to hold dismembered sections without leaking.

Got these soft-body moving bags and they're (1) way better than cardboard boxes and (2) way cheaper than plastic boxes (even renting them) and (3) more convenient than either What's the catch

We just pulled into a parking spot and the car parked in front of us was a brand new black Tesla. You could see on the hood that someone had vandalized it by painting a red swastika on it - and it hadn't come off all the way. Almost everyone in my community drives a Tesla. Most of them are engineers from India. If that was my car, I would be livid.

@ShawtyBrothers The director of Empire Strikes Back was mostly known after for directing Robocop 2 and an episode of SeaQuest. Sometimes maybe fading into obscurity is better than sputtering into mediocrity.

It’s probably because he died young only years after the movie but isn’t it kind of weird that no one really talks about or knows much about the director of Return of the Jedi?

@electionsjoe That isn't the death knell. Time of death will be when the supreme court allows these maps, but when Dems retake these state legislatures the same court *blocks* Dems' redraw under the same rules. That's when you'll know there's no such thing as democracy OR "the law" anymore.
