@1shankarsharma @MinhazMerchant If you love India, please start using BHIM app and move away from Gpay or Phone pay. Switch today. It will be painful a little but slowly you will find all features there. Or Go to PayTM if you like a slick app. My goal is to convince three people who can convince three each.

Me: Your patient is in septic shock. Multi-organ failure has started. We’re on maximum ionotropic support and he’ll likely need the ventilator within the hour. It is very critical. Please be prepared for the worst. Attendant: (Nods) I understand, Doctor. But actually, there is one major problem you are missing. Me: (Thinking they noticed a clinical sign) What is it? Attendant: He has terrible gastritis since morning. He is feeling very "uncomfortable" in the chest because of the gas. Me: Sir, his lungs are filling with fluid and his kidneys have stopped working. Gastritis is the least of his concerns right now. Attendant: Yes, but please... give the gas injection first. Everything else is secondary. Me: 👇

I had a serious introspection today. Unjustified accusations, however baseless, carry a weight I no longer wish to carry. I've now made this firm and final decision. I've stopped discussing about companies I own long ago. Occasionally I only mention the names of the companies where I or my family own more than 1%. I will no longer mention the names of companies me or my family own, regardless of the stake size. In future too, my family and I will continue to take significant stakes (>1%) in companies we believe in. However, I will leave the disclosure to the exchanges and platforms like Screener or Trendlyne. This would ensure that despite 100% ethical behaviour, I don’t receive unjustified accusations. This Warren Buffett quote makes lot of sense: "The rule is to stay a long way from the 'lines.' If there is any question about whether an action is close to the line, it is out. There is plenty of money to be made in the center of the court." I always play only in the center of the court. I don’t even want a perception of playing close to the line. I want perception to match the reality of always playing in the centre of the court.

@Fintech03 Question: Did Ramanujan knew about prime numbers? I mean did he give any formula to generate Primes? If not, why? How did someone who knew numbers so closely miss prime numbers completely. I am sure it is hidden in his notes some where

Next in who is/was after the Ramanujan Series? Harish-Chandra (Kanpur Born) was a physicist-turned-mathematician of extraordinary brilliance, often regarded as a spiritual successor to Ramanujan in terms of raw intuition & depth. While at Cambridge in the 1940s (PhD student under legendary Paul Dirac), the young Harish-Chandra pointed out a mathematical error in the work of Wolfgang Pauli (Nobel laureate). Pauli was impressed by the sharpness of the young Indian student, & they developed a respectful relationship. Harish-Chandra eventually found theoretical physics too imprecise for his taste & switched to pure mathematics in pursuit of greater logical rigor & purity. He single-handedly developed the modern theory of representations of semisimple Lie groups: 1 of the deepest & most influential achievements in 20th-century mathematics. His work provides the rigorous mathematical language used in quantum mechanics, quantum field theory, & string theory to describe symmetries & how fundamental particles behave. It is the foundational Gothic Cathedral of representation theory. He was a strong candidate for the Fields Medal in 1958 but did not receive it. According to Robert Langlands, a forceful member of the selection committee was determined not to award the medal to 2 mathematicians seen as belonging to the Bourbaki camp, & Harish-Chandra was placed in that category. René Thom received the medal instead.Harish-Chandra continued working quietly & intensely at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. Today, his mathematics is used far more widely and enduringly than many contemporary Fields Medal-winning works.

@Nithin0dha Q1. What percentage deaths are due to old age (>80 yrs)? Please exclude it from the pool. Q2. Only 1 crore deaths per year is an extremely low number. How can we trust this? In a country of 150 crores, at least it would be 5 crore per year.

Not sure how accurate this data is, but even directionally, two things stand out. A lot of what kills us is systemic, like poor air quality (see link in comments), broken food systems, and infrastructure. But a meaningful chunk is also within our control, like how we eat, move, sleep, and take care of ourselves. Image: @OurWorldInData

Change in Loksabha seats after delimitation on current terms — UP — From 80 to 120 Bihar — From 40 to 60 TN — From 39 to 59 Telangana — From 17 to 26 Change in Loksabha seats if delimitation is done on population basis UP — From 80 to upto 250 😱 Bihar — From 40 to upto 90 TN — From 39 to 30 😭 Telangana — From 17 to 15 This is why Revanth Reddy has proposed a hybrid 50:50 formula in which 50% seats can be allocated on the basis of GSDP for fair share among South Indian states. Because no states should be politically punished for better economic development & population control. Agree?

Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, It is clear to every citizen that women reservations (which everybody supports), and Delimitation of Lok Sabha seats (on which there are many concerns), are different. For example, if women quota is implemented immediately for state-wise Assembly seats, entire country will welcome. Using women reservation as a red herring, attempts to push a population-based national Delimitation of Lok Sabha may serve the BJP in a very short run, but if it is unjust to Southern and smaller states, it will weaken our country in the long run. National interest must be above any party interest. In the larger and long-term view, consider models other than simple pro-rata for #LokSabhaDelimitation Here, I share one such potential models for your consideration. Kindly ensure we build a national consensus, starting with an all party view instead of pushing this significant policy in an unfair way.

Food for thought. Trump’s Deal With Indonesia: Mahan at the Strait of Malacca Hu Jintao warned China about this moment more than twenty years ago. In 2003, the then Chinese president coined the phrase “Malacca dilemma” to describe a simple, brutal fact: the country’s economic rise depended on foreign oil sailing through a narrow strait that other powers could, in a crisis, choose to close. Most of China’s imported crude and gas still squeezes through that same bottleneck between Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. The US has just moved to wire that vulnerability, and it is no accident this is happening on Donald Trump’s watch. Washington’s new Major Defense Cooperation Partnership with Indonesia is being sold in the usual diplomatic euphemisms: capacity building, maritime security, joint training. Strip away the boilerplate and you see something far sharper. The agreement’s focus on maritime domain awareness, subsurface and autonomous systems, and special forces training is about giving Indonesia and by extension the U.S. and its allies, a far richer picture of everything that moves between the Indian Ocean and the South China Sea, and greater ability to shape it in a crisis. As with Trump’s broader Indo‑Pacific posture, this is one more move to reassert the US as the pre‑eminent maritime power of the age, and to ensure China feels that reality every time a tanker clears the Strait. Hu’s “Malacca dilemma” was never only about a single shipping lane. It was about the geometry of China’s energy dependence. Oil from the Gulf and Africa has to arrive by sea. The shortest, cheapest route runs past India, through Malacca and adjacent Indonesian straits, and then up into waters where the U.S. Navy and its partners have operated for decades. A coalition that can see, track and, if necessary, interdict that flow holds a lever over China’s economy that no amount of rhetoric about multipolarity can wish away. More than a century ago, Alfred Thayer Mahan argued that sea power, fleets, chokepoints and maritime commerce, would decide the fate of great powers. The Malacca dilemma is Mahan’s theory rendered in modern energy terms: a continental power whose trade and fuel move by sea lives or dies by access to narrow maritime bottlenecks policed by others. Trump’s Indonesia move is pure Mahan: rather than chasing dominance on land, Washington is tightening its grip on the sea lanes and straits through which China’s economic lifeblood must flow. Beijing has spent two decades trying to escape this trap with pipelines from Central Asia and Russia, a corridor through Myanmar and a “string of pearls” of ports from Gwadar to Djibouti. Yet the volumes tell a less reassuring story: overland routes move at the margin, while the bulk of China’s energy still comes by tanker and still passes through Southeast Asian chokepoints. The dilemma has been managed, not resolved. That is why Indonesia matters. Jakarta insists it is not choosing sides and will continue to balance between Washington and Beijing. It doesn’t have to do more than that for this pact to bite. As Indonesian officers train with American counterparts and integrate U.S.‑supplied surveillance and patrol systems, the operational environment quietly changes. Chinese planners contemplating a crisis over Taiwan, the South China Sea or even a clash around Hormuz now have to assume that traffic through Malacca and its alternatives will unfold under a web of sensors and partnerships that lean, in practice if not in rhetoric, toward Washington. Another move by President Trump, in other words. From rebuilding American shipyards to pouring money into Indo‑Pacific maritime forces, the pattern is clear: the United States intends to remain a maritime superpower, and to make China live with Hu Jintao’s old nightmare instead of escaping it. Mahan would have recognised the logic instantly: in the end, it is the power that commands the sea, and the straits, that sets the terms for everyone else.

The way Ambedkar Jayanti is becoming a bigger event with each passing year, I think, in the coming years, it'll become the biggest festival in India, much like Chinese New Year for China or Thanksgiving for the US. It could turn into a seven-day festival, with schools and offices organizing events to commemorate it each day. Indian migrant workers might start returning from abroad to celebrate it. We might even begin inviting foreign heads of state to attend, much like on Republic Day. The state currency could feature Ambedkar, and every year there could be a new tallest statue of Ambedkar, each one taller than the last.
