Executive Vice-President of ECR Party and member of the Romanian parliament, George Simion:
“The Romanian people have been robbed of their democracy.
After the fraudulent cancellation of the elections in December 2024, we should have returned to normal and to a fair second round.
But no, the coup d'état continued.
Mario and all the followers on X, with the outrageous decision of the Central Electoral Bureau and the Constitutional Court against Călin Georgescu, we know that no candidate is safe if he is sovereign, if he is a patriot, and if he is not part of the deep state.
The system can and will try to remove anyone they fear.
This is why I have decided today, at the request of Mr. Călin Georgescu, to submit my candidacy for the presidential elections alongside another party leader, a smaller party, Ana Maria Gavrilă, to ensure that the sovereigntist movement is not silenced and we will have a representative on the voting ballot.
If both of our candidacies are validated, the best positioned in the polls will continue the race.
Time is short.
We need every Romanian who lives inside the country to join us in the battle, and we also need the 6 million Romanians who are living abroad.
We need each and every one of our international partners.
We must go forward together for freedom, for liberty, for democracy, and until the end, as we promised.
Romania, our country, belongs to the people, not to the system.
My message to patriots across the world is to get involved.
This is not about a man, but this man was voted by the Romanian people, Mr. Călin Georgescu.
This is about the principle.
Be with us, be with the Romanian people, be with free elections, and support us.
I, as the future president of Romania, will restore freedom and will restore the rights of Mr. Călin Georgescu.”
