Things I’ve learned since the launch of the Samsung Galaxy XR: - The only way to have a conversation about Galaxy XR is to only talk about Vision Pro - The Galaxy XR costs less than the Galaxy Z Fold 7 - During the Keynote Samsung forgot to mention its most important co-designer… Apple. - People that did not buy or have not tried Vision Pro have the loudest opinions - Spatial YouTube seems awesome - Apple Innovates. Samsung follows. - The misstep of Apple Intelligence can still be felt. It’s an egregious mistake. - Apparently Samsung doesn’t think Vision Pro was a flop - APPLE SHOULD HAVE LOWERED THE PRICE OF THE M5 VISION PRO (should be $2499) - Personas > Avatars - You will never see a tweet of Apple roasting Samsung, even though they deserve it. - Apple TV > Netflix - Samsung treats its early adapters better than Apple. (Example: The Explorer Pack) - Zuck might be winning

Review after review, impression after impression… It becomes clear Galaxy XR offers an identical experience, in some cases like controls, sharpness and comfort a better one, over Vision Pro While being half the price. Still a small market but also a clear winner

@neilcybart But: there isn't a Netflix app for the AVP; there is for the Samsung/Google. Better developer relations. Many AVP Apple apps are just the iPad app. No native YouTube app is surely not good - again, dev relations: YouTube is a content play, not a platform play.

This is pretty close to straight up gaslighting. - Says M5 and Dual Knit Band address “almost nothing” people were complaining about with AVP. Sounds like code for M5 is ho hum to him because Apple didn’t reduce AVP pricing. To then say nothing about Dual Knit Band and comfort is bonkers. - Claims Apple Vision Pro is lacking on content but Samsung’s headset is different because it works with Android apps. What? - Makes it seem like the lack of a YouTube app on Apple Vision Pro is Apple’s fault while the reality is Google refuses to release an app for Apple Vision Pro because they are trying to prop up its own headset. He could tell Google to stop playing games and make a visionOS app for YouTube, but that would make Google/YouTube look bad. - While the video is purposely produced to make Apple Vision Pro look awful while Samsung’s headset is made to look great, the final conclusion is the complete opposite and left up in the air so as to make it hard to grade accountable. “I never said Samsung’s headset is better or the one to buy.” Lame.

The launch of Galaxy XR can only be good for the industry and I wasn’t expecting much from this launch tbh but looks like they have a great pricing and with proper YouTube and Netflix apps! It’s a serious competitor on the entertainment side of things (gaming included) I don’t see how they can compete properly with the Vision Pro M5 on the B2B side though. For the current projects I’m working on, this device is just not powerful enough and honestly last time I checked, AndroidXR is still catching up to visionOS on many things. Maybe that’s where Gemini integration will be crucial for them 🤔
