Two "frankly sadistic" agricultural students have been detained for beating a sheep to death, before inserting explosive bird scarers in its body, while filming the attack. Leighton Ashby, 22 and from Beckett Road in Ashford, Kent, and Oakley Hollands, 20, of Mussenden Lane in Horton Kirby, Kent, appeared at Hove Crown Court on Monday. At an earlier hearing the Plumpton College students had admitted killing the sheep in a field near Ditchling Beacon, East Sussex, on 2 November 2023.

Gardaí are seeking the public’s assistance in tracing the whereabouts of Megan O’Brien (15), who is reported missing from Finglas, Dublin 11 since Sunday 22nd February, 2026. Megan is described as being 5 foot 6 inches in height, with a slim build, dyed red hair and brown eyes.

Our soup run logistics begin every Wednesday when we place orders to food cloud. By Thursday morning, we check what is missing and go shopping to ensure we have enough fruit, crisps, chocolates, milk, and water. This is our weekly routine to meet HSE standards. On Thursday evening, collections begin at various Tesco locations, continuing through Friday morning with our driver’s food cloud tour. After a short break, our driver collects all the hot meals from the restaurants, stacks them at the office, and takes them straight to the GPO. This is why we were so horrified tonight when a kind person showed us the photo above taken from the bus. They saw two individuals in high-vis yellow jackets with our logo, carrying buckets to collect money in the name of Muslim Sisters of Eire. While those jackets have our logo, they do not belong to us. We never carry out bucket collections like this. The only official collection we do is outside the GPO on Friday nights with a legal permit from the guards. It is deeply upsetting to see someone try to make money off the very soup run we work so long and hard to establish. If you see a bucket collection for MSOE, please: A) Ask for their identity. B) Contact us immediately. C) Do not give any money into these buckets. Despite this, we handed over just under 400 meals tonight. The weather was atrocious and it was bitterly cold, with people searching for a change of clothes, hats, and gloves. We still have so many children and elderly people coming to us; we see them getting older and more frail, yet they still stand in that queue. It is absolutely heartbreaking. Going into our eleventh year, we are honored to say we could never have fed the mouths we have fed or touched the hearts we have touched without your continuous support.
