Meet Kirsteen – tug master at @svitzerau and all-round legend on the water 🌊⚓To commemorate International Day for Women in Maritime this weekend, we’re celebrating women like her who keep Port of Melbourne moving. Tugs might not always steal the spotlight, but they’re the muscle behind every vessel’s safe arrival and departure. And Kirsteen? She’s at the helm making it happen 🚢 #WomenInMaritimeDay #WomenInMaritime #Svitzer #Career @IMOHQ Music: Retro Musician: jiglr

We’re proud to have joined forces with @svitzerau at the South East Local Learning and Employment Network (LLEN) Expo. It was a fantastic opportunity to introduce students to the diverse careers available across the port supply chain — from maritime operations to trade and logistics. We are proud to welcome the BBG Singapore, the largest vessel to load a combination of lentils and chickpeas at Port of Melbourne. The pulses began their journey along Australia’s East coast states, where they are cultivated by expert growers, before making their way to Port of Melbourne's Appleton Dock via road and rail. The BBG Singapore was in port for several days before departing Melbourne, and is expected to arrive in India early February. Port of Melbourne is delighted to work with @WeAreLDC in exporting quality Australian produce to the world. #trade #shipping #agriculturalexports

Port of Melbourne is proud to play a major role in sharing Victoria's incredible local goods with the world. But did you know that we are also a gateway for goods from other states across Australia? Of the full container exports from the Port of Melbourne, 91% originate from Victoria, while 9% are from interstate sources, as broken down below: #victoria #trade #exports #victorianbusiness

The warmer months are here; and the snakes are out! 🐍 It's important for everyone working and visiting the port to be aware of the potential hazards posed by snakes. Safety is a priority in all areas around the port, and we encourage you to be especially mindful of the possibility of a snake encounters around gardens and grass areas, or any place that provides a dark, warm refuge for a snake. If you spot a snake, keep your distance – do not attempt to kill or capture it. Instead, contact PoM maintenance at 1300 857 662. If bitten, remain calm, alert someone, and seek medical attention by calling 000. Apply First Aid by immobilizing the affected limb with a pressure bandage. Report all snake sightings and interactions to the Port of Melbourne Landside Safety Team via the links below: Hazard Report - portofmelbourne.com/hazard-report/ Incident Report - portofmelbourne.com/incident-repor… Stay safe and vigilant! 🛡️ #SafetyFirst #PortSafety #SnakeAwareness #StaySafe
