In Addis Ababa, on 6 May, the National Day of the Portuguese Language was marked in an initiative by the Embassies of Portugal, Angola, Brazil, Cabo Verde and Mozambique, featuring short films highlighting the diversity and unity of the Lusophone world.

Em Adis Abeba, celebrou-se a 6 de maio o Dia Nacional da Língua Portuguesa, numa iniciativa das Embaixadas de Portugal, Angola, Brasil, Cabo Verde e Moçambique, com a exibição de curtas que destacaram a diversidade e união do espaço lusófono.

On April 20th and 21st, the Embassy of Portugal took part in the EU–Ethiopia Business Forum, promoting investment and the development of Portuguese business interests.

No final da visita oficial à Etiópia, o MNE @PauloRangel_pt foi recebido pelo Primeiro-Ministro 🇪🇹 @AbiyAhmedAli. Um encontro muito relevante marcado pela vontade de dar novo impulso às históricas relações bilaterais e pela relação África-Europa. Aposta na dimensão económica, tendo em conta o surto de desenvolvimento agrícola, ambiental e digital da Etiópia. Uma ocasião para fazer do encontro de culturas a alavanca do futuro.

Em visita a Adis Abeba, o MNE @PauloRangel_pt teve uma reunião com o seu homólogo etíope, Gideon Timothewos @MFAEthiopia. Em foco, a relação bilateral 🇵🇹🇪🇹 e o envolvimento de ambos os países no quadro multilateral. Vontade de reforçar a cooperação económica, nas renováveis, na gestão da água, no turismo, na inovação e na construção. No plano cultural, investir na língua portuguesa e na divulgação da história partilhada. No contexto da crise geopolítica, debateram a relação da UE com a Etiópia e com África. Durante o dia, visitou a Embaixada de Portugal, o Museu Nacional e o admirável Museu da Ciência.

They also emphasised Lusophone inclusion, expanded private sector engagement & EU-Africa investment partnerships, spanning the blue economy, infrastructure, sanitation and Global Gateway initiatives further strengthening Portugal–Africa cooperation for sustainable growth.

ES @claverGatete held a farewell bilateral with H.E Amb @LuisaFragoso2 of Portugal, reaffirming strong cooperation on climate finance, including debt swaps and Loss & Damage support for vulnerable Island States & building on the partnership symbolised by Africa Hall’s restoration

H.E. President Taye Atske-Selassie bid farewell to the outgoing Ambassador of Portugal, Luísa Fragoso, reaffirming Ethiopia’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation with Portugal. H.E. extended his best wishes in her new assignment.
