ITV showed two ads during their coverage of France-Ireland. Neither obstructed my viewing. Had they done so it would have been a small price to pay for ensuring the SixNat maximum exposure instead of disappearing behind a paywall. Too many too quick to criticise the broadcaster.

Yes… that could be one solution. The NHS was designed for 50m population in the 50s but we’re nearly 70m now and living a lot longer. The system can’t cope so the biz model has to change.

@labourlewis That patently isn’t true. The budget and the policies that are behind it set the tone for business, investment and general expenditure, both personal and corporate. With an historically high tax burden and massive debt, Britain is simply not an attractive place for many.

A Budget can’t make a nation “poorer”. It moves wealth around & may change future productive capacity, but doesn’t make wealth vanish. For Badenoch to claim Reeves’ Budget “made the nation poorer” is on the same level as the “maxing out the credit card” line: Bogus economics.

@GeorgeFoulkes Which fantasy universe are you living in? OBR evaluation says there is not a single measure in the budget to promote growth. Just increased spending and record taxation.

Today I received my follow-up cancer scan without being asked to pay a penny. An NHS free at the point of use - revolutionary in 1948 and essential today. Owned by us for all of us. I’ll always defend it. (And thanks @RoyalFreeNHS!)

@PJTheEconomist Nonsense! The country is bust and there’s no conversation about how to reduce spending rather than tax everything and anything that moves or does not move. It’s not brave to impose yet more taxes. The brave thing would be to reduce spending.

This has to be the right policy. Electric cars use road space and cause congestion just like petrol cars. Inconceivable that we'd just give up on taxing driving. Brave and right from the Chancellor.

@Headteacherchat DBS checks are used at the point of recruitment and should not be repeated routinely. They should only be repeated when there’s a specific circumstance or reason to do so.

Can anyone help our anonymous colleague? They are looking for guidance on the recommended frequency of DBS checks for staff. What approach does your school take, and what good practice have you found useful?

@PosiLeading Because the fault caused a delay to trains, the train service manager ran the train to Paddock Wood, this would alleviate delays to trains behind. ^g
