@nealjclark1 Our entire lives from childhood were geared towards preparing for college. All of school treats itself as prep for college. We didn’t do that. Boomers did.

College is expensive because every millenial INSISTED they get to go. The boomers spent a ton so they could go. This was not the case in the boomers day. They understood natural hierarchy and sorted themselves appropriately. Their big sin was liking their children too much.

Example: I am vaccinated every June and January for COVID. I work at home. I havent been in a grocery store in years. I mask everywhere or use nasal sprays. I test regularly. And I have not been sick in any way since 2022 (got COVID from a donor event). But even that isnt enough for the people who dont really care about COVID, they care about moral virtue signaling. And that mindset has permeated EVERYTHING.

Interesting because Karl Marx would actually agree with this because he wasn't a big fan of "opioids of the masses" nor having humans be reliant on corporations. Frederick Engels would call the overreliance on psych drugs "social murder". But the USSR had heavy rates of psychiatrization particularly for dissidents, so you may have some principles.

No education beyond accounting classes. My great uncle supported his whole family in LA with a flower shop. Different world.

Obviously anecdotal, but this was the “nuclear family” ideal that people alive today were raised to believe was possible.

Nearly half of us can’t afford the cost of living. True unemployment including under employed & discouraged searches is at around 20% 🤷‍♀️ idk it’s bad
