An honour to be part of this line-up for Sean Rafferty’s farewell @BBCInTune broadcast last Friday. I’ve had the joy of playing and chatting with Sean on more occasions than I can remember over 24 years. It was a hilarious and tearful farewell party, and we’ll miss him terribly.

@HelenHeat0n @ElenaUrioste Thanks! We haven’t recorded it beyond this video, I’m afraid, though I did record a trumpet and piano version with Alison Balsom. I think I first played this piece (the solo version) when I was about 8 and always loved it!

Day 46 of #UriPosteJukebox: Peter Maxwell Davies’ touching Farewell to Stromness, originally a protest piece against uranium mining in the Orkney Islands, and premiered by the composer at @stmagnus, where @ElenaUrioste and I were in residence for a magical week two summers ago.
