As a freshman at Columbia I had to be on an extensive meal plan that I didn’t want or fully use, did I have the right to protest that, no.

@petersterne Once the decision was made to remove the campers external “support” was the only legit option no? CPS just doesn’t have the manpower to protect campus generally and enforce the decision. Long term it also doesn’t create a situation where protesting students see cps as the enemy.

It is very difficult to overstate the significance of an Ivy League school like Columbia inviting the NYPD onto campus to arrest students. Private schools usually try as hard as possible to handle disciplinary issues in house instead of involving off-campus police.

Throwing faculty members under the bus, suspending Rep. Ilhan Omar's daughter, inviting the NYPD to arrest her own students... It seems like Columbia's president is concerned first and foremost with placating the GOP politicians who criticize her.

It looks like the lease/rental agreements for dorms are drafted to allow uni’s to remove students from housing effectively without any form of due process if they violate uni policy/ are suspended.

@petersterne @msolurin Also: a fair amount of student housing is subject to NYC rent regulations. If you want to evict a tenant you have to go through the usual procedures, which can take months.

@Afonso_Bogalho If you correctly adjust the steering angles it’s not super important unless you’re using cockpit cam. If you want to use the cockpit cam it makes a huge difference in pace, limitless discusses this a lot on YouTube.
