NASA’s Hidden Figures are (finally) getting their flowers.The Congressional Gold Medal, Congress’s highest honor, was awarded to the families of NASA’s Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, Mary Jackson, and Christine Darden. The medal was also dedicated to all the women who worked as mathematicians, engineers, and “human computers” in the U.S. space program from the 1930s to the 1970s.
