@FordonUbell @glitchy_potat His overcoat got diamonds in HGSS. His undercoat always had the diamond zigzag, below the bowtie. It just became more overt later on. Because if it’s too subtle, then people might debate on its intentionality, and it won’t land the same.

@cecililytweets Umbreon also has that runic motif, which ties into Unown and Johto being this historical and legendary place. Also! The Johto delegates at Sinjoh specifically haled from Alph, which fits to a tee with Volo’s trajectory. Of course he settled in Alph.

@cecililytweets Cynthia’s hometown is different from her ancestral homeland. I think Volo fled to to Johto learn more about legends, Unown, Arceus. He established familial roots in Johto. Cogita stayed behind. This split clan exchanged culture and collectively built the Sinjoh temple.

@cecililytweets Cynthia’s ambiguous origin was probably meant as a tease for the GS remakes. There were a few such in DP. Then later titles, especially Legends Arceus, expound on that initial concept. Cynthia is chasing legends, just like Volo was. Umbreon and Togepi are fitting “mysterious”

Kind of the same way they play with Pokemon of alien origin, or where eggs come from. Or all the “newly discovered” mons. There is an inherent ignorance.

The crystal pool in Kitakami seems to reinforce this connection of crystal healing/revitalization. It’s both a literal “Revive”, but also this metaphysical mystery

the paradox where you trade sada the book is insane. if you bring the book to arven, juliana/florian can’t say anything about it. but then again how do you tell your beloved best friend you might be responsible for the death of their mom. i know that haunts them forever

@Mythical_Momon @OddishHime Lida’s a clever one that relies heavily on context. Her design is obviously informed by Teirno, but a new player can probably infer her type without playing XY. But kids in Japan might recognize her pose as Ultraman-inspired, and intuit that she’s specifically a Staryu user.

A YouTuber named Porygondolier has found a wild shiny Gastly in Pokemon Tower Normally overworld encounters in Red/Blue are shiny locked as no shiny DV combinations can generate BUT the Silph Scope allegedly causes a DV reroll, returning the odds to 1/8192

@hutanagi Arceus pronunciation was changed prior to the English release of M12 (Nov 2009 ENG release). It was probably excluded here because things were still being finalized. In PBR (June 07 ENG release) they pronounced it like Japanese, but it was changed for the M12 English release.
