🛢️REPORT | The last tankers to pass the Strait of Hormuz before the Feb. 28 war are set to reach refineries by around April 20, marking a critical turning point that could trigger physical oil shortages in Europe and the U.S. within weeks, the Financial Times reports.
Flows into Asia from the Gulf have collapsed to roughly 4 million barrels per day, down from a typical 13.4 million. The disruption is already triggering emergency measures across Asia, including fuel reserve releases and rising energy costs.
With the strait now effectively closed under a U.S. naval embargo, most Gulf crude remains trapped. Asian refiners, heavily dependent on Middle East supply, have responded by buying record volumes of crude from the Atlantic basin (U.S., Canada, North Sea, West Africa, South America), diverting cargoes that would typically go to Europe and the U.S.
Analysts warn this shift will soon hit Western markets, forcing refineries to cut runs as supply tightens. Spot prices for immediate delivery have surged far above futures, reflecting urgent demand for physical barrels.

It's time, Los Angeles.

The average Californian mind cannot comprehend the joy of spending every afternoon in the summer watching a giant set of dark clouds and lightning roll in, pouring rain for 25 minutes, and then disappearing - leaving you with a hot, muggy, ozone smelling evening.
