People Not Mascots is a group working toward eliminating stereotypical Native American mascots in Oklahoma public schools.

Since the last study on sourcing diversity (based on 2015 data), @NPR racial and ethnic diversity for on-air sources declined. The percentage of sources of color decreased from 27% in 2015 to 20% in 2018.


Did you know that in the 1940s @NCAI1944 created a campaign to eliminate negative stereotypes of Natives in the media? Did you know that the fight to remove Native mascots was happening then too? Stereotypical images and caricatures of Natives have been and continue to be wrong.
