🤔@MACorrections says we shouldn't pause expanding prisons bc they want to be able to repair old prisons they let fall apart. They can! No law has ever stopped the DOC from having AC, wheelchair ramps, mold-free showers They don't want those things They want more prisons #mapoli

Year after year, the DOC imposes untold suffering and preventable harm. All the while their budget goes up. The Prison Moratorium would not prevent these improvements moving forward, & there’s never been one in place, so nothing but cruelty stops them from fixing these issues

The moratorium bill (S2821) doesn't prevent repairs now, and it didn't when it passed unanimously last session. Women inside are telling us: they are willing to stay in an old prison on its way to being phased out. They do not want pretty new cells. They want to go home. #mapoli

The 193rd session is over. We're disappointed but determined. The #FreeHer movement is unstoppable. Last session, #mapoli unanimously passed the Prison Moratorium as an amendment to H.5065. They should pass it unanimously again in informal session ASAP. #NoNewWomensPrison
