Today, we’re releasing beta access to @originkit. An animated component library for building modern websites without starting from scratch. We’re providing support for: - Framer integration - React code - MCP support for AI coding tools We’re opening access to only 500 users first, so we can test the platform, collect feedback, and improve it properly. Right now, we have 45 components available, and we’re aiming to reach 250 components in the next 3 months. If you want to be part of the beta, comment “originkit” and I’ll send you the invitation link to sign up to the platform and start using the components.

Amazing week for @originkit It’s been 7 days since we released it: - 1250+ signups - 4000+ component copies - 14k+ visitors - 75k+ pageviews Surprisingly, a few of the components have already started listing on the first page of Google search. These numbers motivated me and my team to explore more and build around the tool. We’re pumped to keep growing it, and I bet you’ll be surprised by the features we’re bringing in over the next few weeks.

I genuinely feel bad seeing @kail_designs bro’s situation. He spent months building and improving his ASCII tool. Most of us saw the journey through his consistent posts and the new features he kept shipping to make it better. Meanwhile, @21st_dev positioned itself as a community platform while aggregating work from open-source component libraries. They later introduced a paywall around components they didn’t create, often without clear consent or involvement from the original creators. Now, they appear to be shifting towards targeting free tools built by independent creators. Instead of using the funding they raised from @ycombinator to build something genuinely useful, they seem to keep relying on work others spent months creating. Platforms should create opportunities for the community, not profit from work they didn’t build.

A YC Company knocked off and stole my work 1:1. And this could happen to you next. Here's what happened 👇 2 days back @21st_dev launched an ASCII tool which was completely a ripoff of ascii-magic.com Everything from properties, effects, features, presets and even backgrounds were literally scraped off and used exactly. When I called out this mess, the founder got his ego hurt and unfollowed me instead of addressing the blatant copying. I'd probably not have been this upset if it was a solo designer trying to learn, experiment, or make a quick buck on the side. People learn by rebuilding things all the time. But this is a funded YC company. A company with resources. A company with a grown man as a founder. A company that absolutely knew what it was doing. And yes, before anyone jumps in to defend this, they knew exactly what they were doing. You can tell if you looked at their tool for 5 seconds. The fact that a YC-backed company can use AI to rip off a free tool, launch it publicly, and then refuse to acknowledge or address it is seriously alarming. Makes me think if this goes unchecked, they could (or have been doing this idk) do this to anyone in the future. So as a community, it is necessary we hold folks accountable. Thanks, Kailash
