SSFF & ASIA 2026 Shortlist Vol.3 has been announced🎉 shortshorts.org/content/news_e… Congratulations to all the filmmakers! A monthly shortlist of nominated from among the films submitted to the Live Action, Animation, and Non-Fiction categories. This time, the selection was made from 399 works submitted in October. Live Action Category – International In the International category of the Live Action section, many submissions came from the United States, France, and the United Kingdom. Commonly explored themes included family, trust between people, grief, and hidden pasts. Live Action Category – Asia International In the Asia International category of the Live Action section, there were numerous submissions from China, South Korea, and Iran. Notable trends included films shot in distinctive locations such as remote towns, mountainous regions, and isolated areas, as well as stories centered on conflicts within tradition, political constraints, and expectations imposed by family. Live Action Category – Japan In the Japan category of the Live Action section, many works focused on internal psychological dramas, addressing themes such as family breakdown and mental illness. Animation Category In the Animation category, many submissions used elements such as the future, technology, or media to focus on the lasting impact of human dependence on smartphones and electronic devices, particularly social media.
