@tobific @DriftProtocol @solana a little confused on that. says they compromised 2 of 5 signatures. as a guess, the attacker had a 3rd signature which would make a 3/5 majority. BFT is N >= 3f+1, 2f+1 decision, where in this case f = 1. I don't know the drift prot. so just guessing

@DriftProtocol @solana there it is there’s the culprit 2/5 multisig for a 500M TVL with no time lock is crazy you’d think it’s 4/5 multisig but nah man these teams are crazy and then they’ll come up with a highly technical bs to explain why after users funds are gone

Earlier today, a malicious actor gained unauthorized access to Drift Protocol through a novel attack involving durable nonces, resulting in a rapid takeover of Drift’s Security Council administrative powers. This was a highly sophisticated operation that appears to have involved multi-week preparation and staged execution, including the use of durable nonce accounts to pre-sign transactions that delayed execution.

NEW: Female South Carolina police officer collapses after an accidental fentanyl exposure during a search. New bodycam footage shows a Berkeley County deputy jumping into action to save the female deputy who suddenly collapsed. "A female deputy then searched the woman’s person and the report states the deputy found a clear plastic bag that contained an unknown substance in one side of the driver’s bra and a folded-up dollar bill that also contained an unknown substance in the other side," reported WCSC. The male deputy was seen rushing to the cruiser to grab Narcan, which he then administered to the female deputy. The deputy was taken to the hospital and later released.

ICE is deporting a permanent legal US resident from Korea, a scientist researching a Lyme disease vaccine who has lived here since age 5, citing a minor pot possession charge 14 years ago for which he did community service. My fellow Americans, this is absolute madness.

Please reply to this post with divisive facts for @Grok training. By this I mean things that are politically incorrect, but nonetheless factually true.

@binance We do not use cross-shard data communication as we don't know how to solve the double-spend and related problems with that. Instead transactions always run to completion locally on each shard. The only thing that is communicated across shards is account ownership.

@PeterRizun Our proposition: there can be compromises that enable scaling, let's say, "on average". Where it is agreed that pathological cases may still arise, but if designed correctly, relatively infrequently. Taking cue from multicore CPUs.

@PeterRizun Agree that Ethereum's account-based model has the state-space region problem you stated, but that is not the only account-based model possible.

Ethereum's scalability problem is _not_ because its scripting language is Turing complete. A UTXO-based coin with a Turing-complete scripting language will have much better scalability. The problem is because the region of state-space an Ethereum transaction can _write_ is, in general, not fire-walled from the other transactions like it is with the UTXO architecture.
Peter R. Rizun@PeterRizun

Ethereum can't scale. Quoting @evoskuil "scalability is a proportional increase in performance given more hardware." But Ethereum's account-based architecture makes it impossible to write software that takes full advantage (or even partial advantage) of more hardware. 🧵
