Reminds me of the “unexpected budget shortfalls” a provost who got paid $970K/year (and had a large house from the university) told dept. heads about.

Today the CFO of UCSD who makes $430K a year had the gall to lecture me about budgeting when I explained to him that graduate students cannot be made to pay 75% of their income in on-campus rent.
