@balgeunmyeon But by doing that, you are forcing your particular vision of how life should be lived onto those children.
If a child is given an option to opt out, would you have any objections to school prayers?
English

@PreciousWizard True. But that’s not what secularism means. It means that neither belief nor disbelief can be mandated practice. They’re not forcing kids to renounce God, which would be wrong. They just can’t force kids to pray, since forced prayer is also wrong.
English

An under-discussed fact is that Madelyn Murray O’ Hair was kidnapped and murdered by a fellow member of American Atheists.
It was her Christian son, that she called a “late abortion”, who saw to it that she was properly buried.

@balgeunmyeon So if your atheism can be mandated practice in schools, so can my religious beliefs.
English

@PreciousWizard And since you have no greater evidence for your belief than I do for mine, the government shouldn’t give any more credence to it than it does to mine.
English

@balgeunmyeon There’s no such thing as “neutrality”. You hold a belief system, as do I, and ultimately we both want what we believe is “good” to be upheld by the law, and to get rid of what we see as “evil”.
English

@PreciousWizard I didn’t say that. I simply lack a belief he does. The fact we can’t prove either way means neutrality is the best option, meaning no enforcement of one faith (such as yours) over another.
English

@balgeunmyeon You asserted that he definitely doesn’t exist. Give me proof.
If this is a fact, then we can base our government on it. If not, then your faith means as much as mine.
English

@PreciousWizard Give me proof he does. You’re the one asserting a positive claim.
English

@balgeunmyeon Okay, give me proof God doesn’t exist.
English

@balgeunmyeon And all men are subject to God, regardless of whether they believe in Him.
English

@PreciousWizard No, because we all are subject to the law equally, including churches and other institutions.
English

@balgeunmyeon If separation of church and state means that the state can’t follow the church, then churches can’t follow the law.
English

@PreciousWizard “Suing Christians”
More like she respected the separation of church and state and didn’t want her kid being forced to pray at school.

@PreciousWizard Just googled this women and her Wikipedia page has a holocaust denial section lmao.

@vampireshoshi @drstevemillerMD @RegglerJo @JezziiB There's nothing wrong with girls wearing white dresses.

@ruallsion @JadeAtrophis To clarify, it’s not just insulation, the floor layouts are different to trap hot air in.
I’ve been in hotter temperatures in American homes with more comfort because of the airflow.
Also AC. AC is great.

I have a very simple solution here

@coal_christian2 While the Greeks did move against human sacrifice, they did practice it at many points (Iphegenia, Maenads, Spartans).
The Minoans (Greeks), who the Philistines had cultural ties to, practiced child sacrifice too.
English

@PreciousWizard Jews sacrificed children to Yahweh.
Greeks were some of the first people to condemn human sacrifice outright - even before your precious Bible existed.
"Their practice of child sacrifice is not disputed."
Yes, it is, actually.

English

@coal_christian2 Philistines weren’t Hellenic pagans. Their practice of child sacrifice is not disputed.
While not children, I can also name several instances of Hellenic human sacrifice of the top of my head.
English

@PreciousWizard >"You think child sacrifice is okay"

Despite Christian slander, Hellenic paganism condemns child sacrifice. When Tantalus, King of Phrygia, offered a stew made from his sacrificed son to the gods, the gods condemned Tantalus to Tartarus. There, he would be forever tormented by hunger and thirst.
English

@coal_christian2 Technically that’s genocide, not child sacrifice.
You think child sacrifice is okay, so what did the Israelites do wrong here?
English

@SableOnyxIV I’ll get you a mail order bride from Ukraine
English

@PreciousWizard Ma’am, the chapter will be out and I’ll still be in this position, and not for lack of trying mind you.
English

@SableOnyxIV It’s been on indefinite hiatus since October, you have time.
