@dA4a7a3aPq19900 @itskyleconner What are you talking about? Absolutely not true.
English

English

@shrmodelx Absolutely correct! FSD is so far ahead of the so called “competition “ from China and Europe companies, that they tried and still try to deny the access on each market. Europe’s wall might fall this summer and China is scared as hell.

This is the latest version of HUAWEI ADS 4, which is often called China’s strongest autonomous driving system. Compared with Tesla FSD V14.2.2.5 in the same scenario, the difference in reaction speed is obvious. Under the same conditions, the HUAWEI ADS vehicle hit the pedestrian twice, while FSD accurately avoided every collision.
This is the so-called Chinese autonomous driving system that many Western influencers claim is far better than FSD. All I can say is that their marketing is extremely powerful. Both local consumers and Western media figures have been misled by its performance in specially tuned scenarios.
And this is also why many local automakers are doing everything they can to block FSD from entering China. Once the latest version of FSD arrives, the dream they have carefully created for local consumers will collapse.

I’ve shared a lot of cool and positive things about the cars in China over the last few days but there are many downsides too!
1. No brand identity across MANY brands. There are 10+ complete car companies that all build a version of the exact same product portfolio, with small styling tweaks, similar software etc. How would a customer choose one over the other? They all follow the same formula
2. Pricing is unrealistic and not sustainable. The big brands will keep pushing pricing lower to squeeze out the ones that can’t hold on. At some point pricing will have to raise and stabilize to a reasonable level. For consumers though, this is great right now.
3. Driving dynamics - while this show was mostly touring static displays, I drove and rode in a few cars and even the expensive top spec stuff is not matching the ride quality, powertrain calibration, and sorted character we are used to from a western vehicle
I’m sure there are more, it’s exciting to see all of the new offerings and rate of development of new vehicles, but moving so fast and everyone making essentially the same thing dilutes the whole market.

English

@itskyleconner 200 billion dollar in subsidies from the Chinese government to destroy the western car industry and yet 80% of the new manufacturers won’t survive the next 2-3 years. It’s a strange concept.

BYD's dark secret: adjusted for supplier financing, BYD's cumulative lifetime (since inception >30 years ago) free cash flow is NEGATIVE. This means that BYD's business was never profitable. To this day. Now you know. Congrats if you made it this far. You now know more about BYD than ~99.99999% of people on this planet.

@RenaldyApreza @itskyleconner Xiaomi got 200k in the same time and Tesla’s sales their cars like hot chocolate. 10k is nothing in China with 1.4 billion people.
English

@StepanRehak @itskyleconner You get billions of “subsidies” in Europe from taxpayers, while cutting thousands of jobs here and now you say “we are back” because you create jobs in China?
Yeah, thank you for nothing! Best regards, a German taxpayer.

@Preikestole @itskyleconner Designed in Wolfsburg and the rest done with our colleagues in China…. This year 13 new cars and until 2030 in total 30😉 we are back☝️
English

@itskyleconner I will watch it. However it is still “Made in China and for China” so not a single car will be available in Europe or US. Here in Europe we only get those heavily overpriced VW’s that get only bought/ leased by companies because of the heavy subsidies.
English

@Preikestole We did a whole interview about that with a representative! Hopefully it’ll share some insights - because I originally thought the same

@wayne_m159 Mate Rimac is celebrating this deal, he hates the unbelievable old and slow company structure of the VAG.
Every decision takes ages and innovations are mostly forbidden.
Now Mate can truly create whatever he wants and the first thing to change is this hilarious VW Golf Keyfob!!!
English

This is going to have far reaching implications for Bugatti’s future: Models after the upcoming Tourbillon won’t have access to VAG’s parts Bin, R&D budgets, tech and quality control -This is one of the reasons why the Veyron & Chiron by comparison look & feel very much polished & refined when compared to other hypercar offerings from manufacturers like Koenigsegg & McLaren, who still struggle with reliability issues till this very day.
The involvement of venture capitalists in this deal gives me worries, quality might probably go downhill from here, I would have felt much better if another oem with deeper pockets like BMW for instance bought out that stake.
