@jasonwhitlock "Little ditty about Mike and Diane. Two American kids effing every chance they can. Mike says hey Dirty Diane lets run off to Arizona. Hump and pump for as long as we can. Oh yeah life goes on. Two American kids effing every chance they can."

@Guigz75116 @Inadvertantview Let's hope it's a short rift in our centuries old alliance.

@Atlasshrugssoon @FalkTG @irishspy Remember the 17,000 Americans buried in the Meuse Argonne battles of WW1 too.

I repeat:
The U.S. sent thousands of its 19 years old soldiers to die in Normandy, to free Europe and to end the biggest crime against humanity ever commited - by Europeans.
It was just 81 years ago.
The whole reason, France, Benelux etc. 🇫🇷 exist today is because of this heroism.
My grandparents could grow up in a liberal democracy. Without the U.S. they would be raised at the H*tler Youth.
We Europeans would still be in wars again and again, like 1914, 1866, 1870, 1795 etc.
They brought peace, democracy, liberty and human rights. They invested billions of U.S. Dollars into Europe with the Marshall Fund. They gave us more than we ever had in our history before. They protected us for 7 decades with hundreds of thousands of soldiers against the cruelties of the Soviet Union.
The terror we can see nowadays in Donetsk, would have happened in Bavaria, Bourgogne or the Netherlands in 1950 if there wasn’t the U.S. 🇺🇸
Who do we Europeans think we are to let that nation down, act like bad allies, calling their President names every day on television - and have full confidence we stand better alone. All of instagram is just about, why we’re better than the U.S.
We owe them so much.
We Europeans are most arrogant species on earth. And to cure this we have to face the truth.

#Isles fans, what’s on your mind after third straight loss?

If the USA does not intend to honour the obligation to defend NATO because European countries dont join an offensive war of choice against Iran that we have absolutely no obligation to join, the USA membership of NATO is already worthless.
The NATO oath to defend each other is unconditional. If you dont intend to honour it because you are offended about disagreements that have nothing to do with the treaty obligation that you have sworn to uphold, your are not a realiable ally. Tresties with you are worthless and your word means nothing.
Unfortunately, that seems to be the case for the USA.

@DZipf87 @JoshYohe_PGH Sorokin is playing his best hockey ever. He's covering up for D injuries. Will be a great game.
English

@JoshYohe_PGH Pens WILL WIN tomorrow... why? Simply because they have to... guys like Tanger will have good games while Sid, Eric, Ricky... the Kid ... will have outstanding games ... maybe Geno will have a do-over and score 2" You gotta gave heart!" and the Pens have such in spades! Go Pens!

@Bbizzle66 @incarceratedbob Or Dionne too? Really? You'd start a franchise with him over Trottier at center? This list is so dumb
English

@incarceratedbob What’s crazier is having guys like McDavid, Malkin, Teemu, Messier above Bryan Trottier

Denis Potvin, Hall of Famer and 4x Stanley Cup champion, put up 54 points as a rookie defenseman in 1973-74 and is considered one of the foundational cornerstones of the greatest American sports dynasty of all time.
Matthew Schaefer passing that mark more than 50 years later is incredibly significant because it was a benchmark set by one of the most important players the organization has ever had.
For the diehards, there is real symbolic weight with Schaefer passing this milestone. Potvin represents the #Isles original standard for greatness, something the team has been searching for ever since his departure.
Passing Potvin says Schaefer has moved beyond just having elite rookie season production and elevated himself into a tier that forces direct comparisons to one of the greatest defenseman of all time.
One that changed the fate of a franchise, so many years ago. And as we know, time has a funny way of repeating itself.
Before you scroll on, Let me leave you with one more thought to help you digest all of this. Denis Potvin was 20-years-old in his rookie season. Schaefer won’t turn 20 until the 2027-28 season.
Truly extraordinary what we’re witnessing.

@Habson23 @james_hockey61 Islanders have more wins than Montreal.
English

@james_hockey61 Habs fan here - You guys are a much better team than the Islanders and I would be surprised if they got in over you.
English

@IslesFix Are the Islanders eliminated.? They still have a great chance to make the playoffs. Nobody thought that'd be the case in October. This is going to be fun to watch down the stretch.

The easy thing for Darche to do at the deadline was to do nothing. Hold onto your assets, build on the magical Scahefer year in the off-season. Instead, he took a swing, a calculated one in his mind, and with that came risk, and all the criticism that may come with it #Isles

Judging by the reaction to this tweet, Pierre Turgeon remains one of the most popular players in Islanders history despite being traded by Don Maloney to the Canadiens. It still hurts that he was traded. It downright infuriates me just thinking about it. #Isles
